Cop Land

Yet something ugly is taking place behind the town’s peaceful facade. And when Freddy uncovers a massive, deadly conspiracy among these local residents, he is forced to take action and make a dangerous choice between protecting his idols and upholding the law.

Petros T (de) wrote: Astonishing performances by everyone, an absorbing script, mind-blowing action, imposing photography, some heavy emotional scenes with Penn and Robbins which will make you feel, well, shit and the so realistic ending (no one gave a damn). But, despite the magnificence of the film, you can't ignore one suspicious plot hole: Dave could have said to his wife what he did and simply avoid that fatal excuse.

Brittany M (nl) wrote: I rented this movie and watched it over five times... then rented it thrice more throughout. It's really dark and slightly gorey, but it shows seduction and it tells a true story. It's really great film. But the Rod in the movie is way sexy, and the real life guy is scary looking. So if Drew Fuller was the actual guy, I would totally let him suck my blood ;].

Jerell B (kr) wrote: I didn't like the movie because at the end of the first movie when they were found it ended with them all alive but at the beginning of this one Richard and Emily are dead and the baby is alive.

Allan C (de) wrote: Roger Corman produced Martin Scorsese's first studio film and it is seriously lacking in any hint of the brilliant filmmaker he would soon become. Like Francis Ford Coppola's first feature film, also for Corman, these are cheap exploitation films that were made to make money and not for the sake of film. This film was another attempt to cash in on the popularity of "Bonnie & Clyde" and features a good cast that includes Barbara Hershey, David Carradine, Bernie Casey, John Carradine and Victor Argo, but it's really just a competently made exploitation film. Even a Jack Hill exploitation film is more interesting that this, with is pretty surprising considering Scorsese's next film would be the brilliant "Mean Streets." Watch this film as a Samuel Z. Arkoff/Roger Corman film, not a Martin Scorsese film.

Jordan K (nl) wrote: Lethal Weapon is one of the pioneering great action films and what makes it work, especially as a franchise, is the thrilling nature of the climax and undeniable chemistry between Gibson and Glover. It's one of the all time defining action films.Martin Riggs, a suicidal loose cannon detective, is partnered with no nonsense veteran cop Roger Murtaugh to solve a murder of a troubled young woman caused by a gang of armed heroin smugglers. The 1980s was a great time for the action genre. Rambo, Die Hard, Arnold flicks, and Lethal Weapon were some of the defining titles of the decade. This is also one of Gibson and Glover's big breaks into film (Gibson had a little bit before this), and Lethal Weapon defines great performances and chemistry. An odd couple chemistry between the two reasonably started the "buddy cop" genre, with some one liners and explosions everywhere, Lethal Weapon is one of a kind. In a field of tons of action films with the same general atmosphere, Lethal Weapon stood out and was a humorous thrill of a film. Great performances from Gibson, Glover, and even Gary Busey, playing the primary villain. The general atmosphere for some parts feels a little more dull, notably in the beginning, but picks up a lot towards the end. Lethal Weapon is gritty, thrilling, and one of the all time great action flicks. Lethal Weapon soon became a hit and led the way for three sequels, which I will also be reviewing.
