Coraline

Coraline

When Coraline moves to an old house, she feels bored and neglected by her parents. She finds a hidden door with a bricked up passage. During the night, she crosses the passage and finds a parallel world where everybody has buttons instead of eyes, with caring parents and all her dreams coming true. When the Other Mother invites Coraline to stay in her world forever, the girl refuses and finds that the alternate reality where she is trapped is only a trick to lure her.

Adventurous Coraline finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Andrew B (nl) wrote: Following in the same type of path that City of God created Gomorrah is a gritty, nasty and harrowing look at the criminal underworld in modern day Naples. Not just about the criminals, but also about how it affects their entire community. Most of the focus here takes place in a run down project building facility in Naples where its inhabitants are mostly a group ruthless gangbanging bandits. Usually when you think of gang bangers the first thing that comes to your mind is Blood and Crips and baggy jeans and bandanas. Not the case here. It really shows how a whole different culture and way of life in the end has the same exact elements as any other criminal underbelly. The film is almost disturbing in how real it feels. From the young kids who are born into it, to the wannabe guys who try their hardest to fit in with the crowd. But it mostly displays a brutally violent portrait of Naples. If you like mafia and gang films and don't mind subtitles, this should be right up your alley.

John D (gb) wrote: If you have seen The Departed and Mike Figgis' Internal Affairs. Your in for a treat with this Hong Kong version called Infernal Affairs. A very well made Hong Kong cop crime drama that tells the story of both cops in between of two bosses. Searching for both parties' mole as it tells the loyalty and betrayal from both men. Well written and impressive work by director Andy Lau. Brilliant performances by the well known Hong Kong actors as Andy Lau and Tony Leung really shines and gives the most natural acting the Asian way. A must have collection either DVD or Blu-Ray. Superbly a Hong Kong crime masterpiece. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Paul J (au) wrote: Almodovar's finest and most mature film. Seriously inventive screenwriting with characters we not only fully believe but totally care about. A major feat, considering the story. It's also quite sexy - both in its content but also in its music and theater performances. It shows the unpredictable road we can take to find our soul mate. At its heart is about connections and loneliness. There are many beautifully touching, yet funny (and a little disturbing) moments throughout. The silent film segment is hysterical. It's ironic that Almodovar has two central female characters who hardly speak at all. After all, he's often known for his strong women who have a lot to say. Instead he focuses on two men and how they feel and look upon women. You might say, Almodovar challenged himself here and it certainly paid off. (How often does a foreign film win Best Screenplay at the Oscars?)

Patrick C (de) wrote: Pretty good late 80's cheese thriller/horror. Murder, ex-Nazi scientists, and surgery scenes that made me squirm were fun fun fun. The special effects were quite cool for the time and it is fun to look back on the days where such things were more mechanical that computer. At times things bleed into soft core pornesque but they are in France...what would you expect :)

Private U (us) wrote: Pretty weak infection scare movie. The highlight is the crazy cast - Sam Waterston, Yaphet Kotto, the Deputy Commandant from the Police Academy movies, and Rick Rossovich of Top Gun fame.

Oscar H (ru) wrote: En blaxpoitationfilm s stenhrd att det blir helt parodiskt, men det r ju det vi vill se! Fr att citera trailern: "Trouble is here! He's street smart and steel hard. He's been a man since he was a kid, and trouble is this man's name." Trouble Man r allts inte direkt en rollfigur med ngra nmnbara brister. Tyler R (ru) wrote: This movie is awful. Has nothing to do with the games and the plot makes no sense. The cgi was poor as well.

Beside John Wayne and Joanne Dru the stars are Monument Valley and the greatest group of horses ever cast. Probably the first movie I ever saw in a theatre (with my dad at the Metro one Saturday matinee), and just like then, when the Cheyenne crest a ridge in full war regalia, my head opens to the possibilities of the universe.
