(es) wrote: wow what a waste of my time.....I actually didn't even finish watching it... Now I know it was a low budget film which is totally fine with me but I have seen better... The story line had some potential but not enough to get more than 1/2 a star...

Not many people take on these type of stories set in the US. I appreciate that and it still seems current in its relativity even though it was released seven years ago. Lines are crossed in a time of panic and that is dealt with very well here without going overboard. In a time of peril you have to adapt. As a viewer you are thrust into the situation with little character information. Which again, most film makers just do not make movies like this. I hate to say daring, but it is. This was a daring film to make for an American audience. I would love to see Chris Gorak get some heavy funding for some more films. Watch this, and watch The Darkest Hour if you have not seen it yet.

I think the film could be a masterpiece if better executed, but we have what we have, so let's briefly talk about that instead. This is a gross-out horror. Brain meatballs, brain eating, a brain blowjob, brain this and brain that. It's awesome. There's also these indescribable calluses that we see on Mike during a sex scene, it's only a shot that lasts a couple of seconds, but I think t's a bit worth mentioning. And this is why the film is so great, something as simple as a two second shot is interesting enough to looks back upon during a review! The plot is decent, I really liked it up until Mike found about what the brain (who we find out is named Aylmer) was making him do and began to try resisting him. From there on, it got out of hand, and this is where I feel like the movie could have improved. Some people may think the tie ins and ending are good, but it wasn't my cup of tea. Good movie though.

Detta r en satans kul och charmig rulle med amatrmssig kameramanvrering och en temamusik som r s medryckande att man fr stpls. Klimaxet r frmodligen filmhistoriens mest absurda.
(ag) wrote: This is hardly a movie. It's just a series of skits or something with TV teleplay production quality badly strung together. Imagine "Love, American Style" on ether, but awful.

(nl) wrote: Rio, (Marlon Brando) is the antithesis of Marshall Kane (Gary Cooper in High Noon). Nothing surprises him about the the cowardliness and deceitfulness of human beings. This was the first and I believe the only film Marlon Brando directed and it was a top notch effort. Good story and cast. I am not sure what accent Marlon was going for, but at times it was distracting. I see on Wikipedia that Stanley Kubrick was initially selected to direct this project, but conflicts with Brando over casting caused Kubrick to quit. Brando was nominated as Best Director at the 1962 Academy Awards and the film won an Oscar for best cinematography. The 'star' of this film were the locations. Speaking of the casting, I remember that Pina Pellicer (Louisa in the movie) was given quit a bit of publicity during the distribution of the film. This was her U.S. film debut and she gave a good account of herself. She committed suicide in 1964 at age 30.
