Adam F (es) wrote: The biggest problem and the likely reason that "Camp Hell" has gotten a lot of negative reviews is because of the way the film is advertised to seem like something that it isn't. "Camp Hell" is not a horror movie, it's a drama. It also does not star Jesse Eisenberg, as the cover will lead you to believe, he is only in the film for a few minutes. Now that we have that sorted out, this film is a unique take on religion, the devil and sin. It is uneven at times, with some plot elements going nowhere and some shots that are very misleading as to the ultimate premise of the film, but if you a looking for a smart movie about demonic possession and the implications that this has (and not slasher type with nudity and dead teenagers) then it's worth a shot. It has genuine moments of drama and a few scenes will give you the chills as the plot unravels. It's really unfortunate that the studio that released this had no faith in it whatsover and decided to sell it this way because it isn't a bad film. (Dvd, April 20, 2012)
Roger A (it) wrote: There is a lesson here: Incomprehensible mumbo-jumbo does not create drama or suspense. Suspense is generated by dramatic questions like this: Will James Bond defeat Dr. No? Will the poor kid with the alcoholic father survive flight-school training to become an officer and gentleman? Will Michael Corleone become as good a godfather as his father? Will the young female FBI agent find the serial killer? But this movie, "Boarding Gate," raises questions like this: What the hell are they talking about? Why does the woman have the number 23 written on the back of her neck? What is this movie about? Why does this man let this woman abuse him? And finally, Why am I watching this horrible crap?

Grottesque, satirical and farcical, always engaging. McDowell, on whom this story is partially based, gives another charismatic and memorable performance.
Brad G (kr) wrote: Black Caesar, like Super Fly, is another version of the Little Caesar/Scarface tale of the rise and fall of a super criminal. However, what Black Caesar has is Fred Williamson, his badass mutton chops, and a killer James Brown soundtrack. I really enjoy how the 1953 shoe shine boy prologue bleeds into the 1966-1973 narrative; you start to believe that Williamson??s Godfather of Harlem could strongarm his way into mob territory. The always dependable Julian Harris stops by for a quick turn as Williamson??s reformed, but rather sad rolling stone papa and Art Lund??s racist cop is perfectly villainous. Still, it??s a typical rise, fall story and I??m one of those kooks that prefers the mondo craziness of the film??s sequel, Hell Up In Harlem to this average crime saga. VF.

Hugo G (gb) wrote: 8.7/10Jacob's Ladder was a very intriguing and twisted mystery movie. It had a lot plot twists and creepy imagery, but most importantly the story ways kept you wandering and interested in what was going on. Also Tim Robbins performance was really good. I'm surprised as how I never heard about this movie, because it was really good and very intricate that probably should be more known than what it is. ~August 22, 2015~

A couple other children are in consideration and in the end three children are all bestowed the honour. I guess that's what happens when it really is too close to call. Nicely shot but ultimately never achieves what it sets out to do, although is a sometimes interesting look into a different culture.
