LaGina P (es) wrote: Like "Alfie" meets "License To Wed," "Under The Yum Yum Tree" tells the story of a young couple that wants to move in together and live platonically as a trial before they get married. They just happen to move into a building managed by a smooth-talking ladies man, Hogan (played by Jack Lemmon) who sets his sights on the bride-to-be. His hijinx are funny, but the film doesn't translate to today's times well because Hogan's horn-dog behavior that passed as foolish in 1963 would be the type of thing to get him arrested for peeping and harassment in 2007.

Fox was surprisingly believable. I think it's so memorable, because it's essentially all about personal honour and respect for human life.
Steve W (de) wrote: One must be careful when viewing The Gold Rush. I recently re-watched it and didn't like it, because it was the remastered shorter version with Chaplin's voice over. The original 96 minute version is the one I enjoyed when I was younger, without the voice over and the piano musical score. The Gold Rush is fun, early Chaplin, but be wary of what version you watch.
