Kelley C (au) wrote: I thought it was pretty good. It had a little bit of every thing. I shed a few tears, couple of laughs. A story we humans can relate to.

Steve R (gb) wrote: An interesting (if totally unoriginal) sci-fi tale. Unfortunately it's a bit too dark for younger kids, and a bit too simplistic and naive for older ones.

Harry A (es) wrote: Extremely well-made and well-paced romantic drama anchored by strong performances.

My opinion... the older guy was a bit creepy how he seemed to stalk him and had other pictures of his presumed students. Its interesting how when a 30 year old and a 45 year old are together its not such a big deal... Yet when someone is in a position of influence with someone else... relationships are not acceptable - other than my initial thoughts I think things progressed like in any other relationship really. To add a personal twist on this - I am married to someone 7 years my senior and adopted someone 15 years my younger... he's 11 now and I'm 26. I found this movie creepy on that fact alone - so I'm not the best judge. My mom dated (she would be 46 now) someone who was a year younger than me actually for a time before she died - also a bit odd. For me if I was single the youngest I would date is 18 (who was mature enough to live on their own and out of school) the oldest 40. The movie though was dry - and would be better suited for a philosophy / morals or sexuality class to anaylze it to provoke discussion. Not for its film content.

Robbie N (nl) wrote: While failing to deliver the greatness of the first, the concept of this movie is great fun, and it's hilarious script makes it's unoriginality seem unimportant.

Brian C (br) wrote: intriguing look at world war two era london during the blitz. odd how much of the second half of the movie doesn't have much to do with the war. also interesting how little of movie deals with the actual war but rather how ordinary people cope with the daily trials. a great over the top performance by ian bannen in support here.

Leighton T (br) wrote: A fine melodrama, containing a terrific leading performance from Better Davis, that is largely overlooked because of the many other amazing films released in Hollywood's pinnacle year of 1939. In some ways, this film looked to set up the austere-adult driven films of the 1940's, especially when you look at Best Pictures such as Mrs. Miniver and The Lost Weekend and may actually be more important than we realize, a film that bridges decades. There's no faulting the supporting cast either: Geralidine Fitzergerald, George Brent, Ronald Reagan, and even Bogey himself, are all terrific. (Bogart plays so against type, that it takes a few scenes to get used to him.) Beautiful, simple cinematography (the same cinematographer as Gone with the Wind) aid the film, and gives it a simple beauty that adds to the sadness of the story.
