Wes S (es) wrote: Follows a story similar to Man from Snowy River, but with even more uninteresting characters. The effects are bland, the plot is loose, and the film never seems to be firm. It doesn't offer much to hold interest.

Noma Q (br) wrote: Mystery and suspense are supposed to be the key elements in thrillers and yet they were missing in "Cleaner". PS: The movie felt so long.

Andrew L (it) wrote: It's faithfully adapted in it's visual style, but despite the graphic violence the story has been toned down from Miller's brutal depiction of the Spartans as a society. There is a more distinctive sense of brotherhood & 'every man is equal' about Snyder's vision, yet despite this & the over-use of slowmotion in all the fight scenes (if not the whole film), it's a brilliant film to watch with a very simple yet effective story.

Andrew B (us) wrote: I've only seen two other Harmony Korine movies, one being Kids which I loved and the other being Trash Humpers which I'm not actually sure qualifies as a movie. I liked both of them, especially the underlying dark humor and general angst. They both feel very punk rock.I had always heard this was one of the most messed up movies ever made, and I also saw it repeatedly compared to Breathless so it's actually pretty unacceptable that it took me this long to watch it.The Godard comparison mostly comes from the semi-improvised way that the movie was shot (a lot of the movie is shot on hand held), and in the jumpiness of the editing. But when it comes to the way that ideas are being presented there's a pretty big difference. Harmony creates this very strange trashy poetry that the world within Gummo operates on. Characters tend to be very blunt, and ignorant of the morals of their actions. Its kind of an anti-Slingblade where poverty and mental illness are shown in the most disturbing ways possible, and there's no resolution in sight. The movie slips into almost exploitational snuff film levels of depravity, sometimes played for laughs (there's a pretty great scene where a very drunk Harmony Korine tries to flirt with a midget), but more often than not it's just there to make you feel sick. It's great.

Phil S (it) wrote: great film, probably one of my favourite zombie flicks. The production is really quite good despite others negative reviews, bear in mind the decade in which this was produced! The dubbing and voice actors (I assume) in some parts were pretty weak but on the whole an enjoyable watch. My one criticism is the incidental music, I hate 70's 80's incidental music in any movie and in my opinion losing it in ZFE:2 would be great!

Nathan H (fr) wrote: The main character is unique but relatable, and, as in most good sports movies, you feel compelled to root for him. The movie is compelling because it's not just about the pressure he faces from the race, but from parents who don't understand his racing desire and from being lower class in a town of rich college kids. As with most movies (unfortunately) there is some unnecessary, artificial conflict, but it doesn't bog the movie down too much. Plus, the movie has a natural humor that keeps the tone light, and Paul Dooley steals the movie as cliched, but enjoyable, mid-western, working class father.

ChillinDylan G (ca) wrote: The comedy that started all future crappy summer-camp movies, much like Airplane was the comedy that started all the future crappy "spoofs". This is an absolute classic movie with Bill Murray at his best. For a goofy comedy, there is outstanding character development, superb dialogue and one-liners, and a great story. The pranks are fresh for their time, and Bill Murray's speeches in this movie (specifically "it just doesn't matter", but he has multiple classic lines/speeches) are top notch. One of the most "fun" movies I have ever seen, and I still quote lines from it on a daily basis. Grab your popcorn and enjoy! Grade = 9/10

Ashley H (mx) wrote: Something of Value is an excellent film. It is about Kimani who soon finds that different races are treated differently even though he grew up with Peter. Rock Hudson and Sidney Poitier give amazing performances. The screenplay is well written. Richard Brooks did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama.

Nick S (es) wrote: This film is about as original as it is weird. It tells the story a Vietnam veteran named Jacob who struggles to overcome the horrors of war. But what starts out as nightmares of his time spent in Vietnam, progressively they turn into hellish visions that blur the lines between what's real and what's not. As the visions increase more with each passing day; it leaves him to question if he is going insane or is there something else much more sinister behind these visions that plague his mind as well as his reality. But the further Jacob seeks out the answers, the further he spirals down the ladder into absolute chaos. This film is a rollercoaster ride of visionary horror. It toys with your mind and throws subtle hints at you as to what is going on and you still wont know until the very end. This definitely isn't your conventional horror film and may require a second viewing to fully understand. And though it isn't for everybody, it is a film worth seeing, especially if you like a well thought out horror film that will stay in your mind days after viewing. (Interesting side note:) This film was the main inspiration behind the Silent Hill videogame franchise.
