Deconstructing Harry

This film tells the story of a successful writer called Harry Block, played by Allen himself, who draws inspiration from people he knows in real-life, and from events that happened to him, sometimes causing these people to become alienated from him as a result.

Suffering from writer's block and eagerly awaiting his writing award, Harry Block remembers events from his past and scenes from his best-selling books as characters, real and fictional, come back to haunt him. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Tommy K (jp) wrote: The story is extremely complicated and brilliantly written, the characters help keep the movie in focus, and the visual effects will just blow you away. One of the absolute best movies of all-time.

Adam R (au) wrote: A major stinker. Not that I expected much from a pairing of Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy, but they could have done better than this. (First and only viewing - 9/9/2014)

Timothy J (us) wrote: Not a Tarantino movie, but you can see the impact he had on movies during this time. One of a string of Travolta '90's comeback films.

JoAnne K (nl) wrote: It's an eighties flick, so all you can expect - big hair - cool music - cheesy innuendos and scary fashions....watching this again was like stepping into a time machine, being reminded of all the fashion 'dont's' that we all did and at the time, this movie was apt as it was when we were first introduced to the idea of 'safe sex'. The Vin Man is my fav, what a character! LMAO

Peter W (nl) wrote: Many special effects are horrible, but the Floating City looks nice and Munro is quite fresh. Plummer has some fine closing lines. But best are the space torpedoes! I believe the Italians used something similar in World War II, but in the sci-fi genre this feature is quite unique.

Ken T (ca) wrote: Olivia de Havilland won a well-deserved Oscar for her performance as a long suffering mother who loses her son to another mother after fear of scandal. This haunts her throughout the film - which spans between both World Wars. Fine direction by Hollywood romantic regular Leisen and an absolute masterful performance from De Havilland, who keeps the film from going over-the-top. Keep a tissue box nearby!

Tim C (fr) wrote: I saw this the other day on TCM and I thought it was a great backstage musical story from the 40s that was just fabulous! It is an interesting look at how fame changes things for someone, and not for the better. Still, it is nice to see Judy Garland sing and act, Lana Turner trying decide between glamor and squalor (not to mention rick millionaire or Jimmy Stewart), and Hedy Lamarr who is in between fame and her concerning husband. Ziegfeld is never seen or shown, and the numbers are fabulous and Ziegfeldian, but I thought he should have shown his face if not booked William Powell asap!

Enid C (gb) wrote: this movie cracks me up every time i see it. from the midget lover to the acid to the elderly cripple who needs to take a shit, it's the type of funeral i would want for myself.

Dan M (es) wrote: Reminds me a bit of Conan the Barbarian, if Conan was played by the guy who played Gambit in X-MEN Origins: Wolverine and set on Mars. Too long and a bit kooky for my taste. In the end it's a sci-fi movie turned into a sappy romance one. Yawn.

Marissa P (kr) wrote: A great movie! One that i will always cherish in my heart! great music and amazing storyline! Gordon Macrea's vocals are absolutely GORGEOUS and shirley jones made her film debut! Now honestly, were would the music world be without Shirley Jones?! If you don't like this version, watch the Hugh Jackman version on youtube. (yes, hugh jackman played Curly on Broadway in his earlier years! Believe me, i was as shocked as you.) just type in "Oklahoma! The Original London Cast Part 1/18" This musical has some of the most beloved songs ever written and most well-known songs ever sung on stage or in theatre. I love it! the more i watch it, the more i fall deeper in love with it!
