charles b (mx) wrote: Strong, controlled visual storytelling. Tautou delivers a tantalizing performance via Fontaine, whom is tactful in her direction/writing; careful to foreshadow (in each scene) how Coco will eventually become the Icon. Remember... this IS a story about Coco BEFORE she becomes famous.

Lysann B (de) wrote: I don't understand that people think to buy an interest in a person equals romance. There are enough people out there who prioritise money and seek for gold diggers to get a bit of attention. Fair enough. Everybody can do what he fancies, but don't make a movie out of it. The obvious happy-end can't paint over this low morale. Rubbish and cheap. Charming and adorable Audrey Tatou is wasting her time and ours. French Riviera is a beautiful back drop though.

Dave J (it) wrote: Wednesday, March 7, 2012 (2001) Secret Ballot (In Iranian with English subtitles) DRAMA Simple formuliac film and not for everybody's taste because it's long and slow but subtle for others as we the audience witness an Irnaian female ballot agent with the aide of a male Iranian soldier cruising around on a jeep onto unpopulated cities around specific almost obscure parts of Iran for a day for extra votes whereas some people don't see the point in it while they're others feel it's importance. Co-written and directed by Babak Payamimakes makes the most of it's long deserted locations which can go on for miles on end, making one to wonder what's the point on looking at the screen at it except gaze it like you'd do if this type of scenery is like looking at your kitchen window. This can also be another side of Iran people don't really know about where they're not projected as hostile as some want to believe it to be! Obvious possible influence of David Lean movies, particularly Lawrence of Arabia! 3 out of 4

Stella D (de) wrote: interesting scenario of sympathetic family man van heflin being stalked by a slightly crazed robert ryan for something bad that happened in the war. the ending wraps everything up a little too neatly in classic western style but with good suspense in getting there. mary astor plays an aging hooker at the same time she was playing the saintly mother in little women LOL

Eric F (nl) wrote: Christian Bale is brilliant, and what a unique , original thriller! Holds your interest throughout!

Richard M (kr) wrote: Antonio Banderas and Woody Harrelson combine well in this road trip/ boxing movie. There are some strange moments, but the dialogue is excellent. The final bout and the complications caused by a love triangle are convincing. There are several cameos, but they really don't achieve much.
