This movie follows a couple of young indie rockers in Tehran as they work to recruit bandmembers, struggle vainly to get a permit for a concert, and work through black market connections to obtain passports and visas to fulfill their ambitions of playing abroad. Persian Cats features great Iranian underground music and fascinating imagery of modern day Tehran. It's made beautifully and dangerously: the director was arrested twice during filming and the American co-writer was jailed as a spy. Check it out.
