This film really shows how conflicted someone can be in such a difficult situation. You will not be disappointed with watching this film
Ant G (it) wrote: This is a good Saturday afternoon direct to TV movie. I would not pay ten dollars plus all the condiments to see this movie. All in all the story is quite interesting, terrorism is a great way of hiding high end jewel theft, and using terrorist groups with their support and cover to look like a radical islamic group, but it isn't. The story starts with an American who is involved inn a bomb blast. It is supposed to have killed the new Sultana by the hands of an Islamic group. An American survivor fits pieces together and then starts investigating the crime. Is he really just an art teacher or someone else. If he is someone else, who is he, and what does he want. The main characters are quite good, with some great scenes and dialogue that sets this movie out from others of its type. Mickey Rouke chooses a baddie beyond repass. A pedophile, sadistic, ruthless thief whose wild plots just go a bit too extreme. #spoliler here# Why does he kidnap the sultana, and just not sell off the necklace. Why go into so much detail about the Chinese prostitutes branded with a tiger, why does Rouke not carry around a hand gun nor have a mini sub boss that puts the fright into the audience.#spoiler endThere's quite a few inconsistencies in the movie and even when Rouke makes the final good guy and bad guy standoff a parody, it's neither exciting nor nail biting enough to warrant paying ten bucks to see the movie. There is a LOT worse out there, some even made it into being Oscar nominated. I say, it's a perfect Saturday night or Sunday afternoon movie. It sadly isn't a movie made for cinema.

Ashley H (ca) wrote: Salmon Fishing in Yemen is an excellent film. It is about a fisheries expert who is approached by a consultant to help a sheik's vision of bringing the sport of fly-fishing to the desert. Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt give amazing performances. The screenplay is well written. Lasse Hallstrom did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Salmon Fishing in Yemen is a must see.

Eric H (ru) wrote: The movie of the kind that you flow with the incidents, it makes the history with the dram, in a way that you believe that the story is very close to you and to the histroy incidents that you lived. The actors was great, non of them is a super hero or a charming super model.....they are the kind of folks you see in the street. You can feel the sorrow wrap the live of the characters specially the mom and her son, the mom who believed in the social system and its idealism, and the son who ones when he was young loved that system and inspired by it in a way or another. The movie in a way or a nother have not escaped form the trend of western movies of putting the former social system and heavy criticize and showing it as corrupted system that don't have any bright side. but at the same time demonstrate that there is a lot of values the person and the community will lose when throwing it self in the lap of capitalism. This movie is great, take you in a small journey in the past with small family during the collapsing of the former eastern German social system.

Plus Rock wasn't well known, certainly internationally, when it first came to cinema; and most the references he brings are of his performance in the "urban" drama "New Jack City", including crack-smoking. Anyone who knows Rock's comedy will see another reference emerging, that of self-parody...It helped put him on the map, gave Eve a (nother) job and was a funking good giggle...

Bill C (ag) wrote: Atmospheric thriller more about two protagonists suspended in that uncertain space between superficiality and substance - than about the development of a complex or compelling story. Having said that, fine complimentary performances by Fonda and Sutherland make it all work extremely well.
