Having grown up reading Beatrix Potter's books I was drawn to this film and essentially to her compressed life story.Full of hope and tragedy this movie was ultimately feel good and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Having her characters come to life through the use of animation was beautiful and a clever technique; showing how to Beatrix they really did exist.

(jp) wrote: Tulpan is a beautiful film by Sergey D., who brilliantly tells the story of a man who tries to get a lady called Tulpan. The cinematography is the most awesome thing in this picture, but obviously the other things are not weak. The performance of the principal character might be a bit weird, but it isn't bad. Tulpan is a highly recommended flick for those who like serious academic films and those who like any kind of good cinema.

They're playing into the wee hours of the morning, and they dint give a fuck, nor do the 250,000 fans who sacrificed their well beings to see their heroes. Maiden are AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME, folks. They're giving the best performance ever and showing us why they still matter, and properly lashing out against the mainstream's enjoyment of slaughtering intelligence. Just perfect.
(br) wrote: I guess my main question after watching Vulgar is: why? Why make this film? What merit does this film bring to the table? Why would the talented Kevin Smith agree to produce and star in this awful film. I really don't have solid answers to any of these questions. Vulgar is about a guy who is a clown for kids birthday parties who suddenly has the strange notion that he can solve all his financial problems by being a clown for birthday parties. His explanation of this epiphony to his friend is not only absurd, but makes us question the mental stability of our protagonist. On his first gig though he is raped by some crazies. So after isolation, he decides to go back to kids birthdays and on his way to one, he runs across a hostage situation and saves a little kid. Next thing you know, he's got his own tv show and is living good, that is until those old crazies give him a call and blackmail him with a tape from the night of his rape. If that plot doesn't turn you off, then pretty much everything else will. How about the terrible production values? This film looks like it was made for maybe 10 bucks. How about the fact that it really has no clue what it is? It goes from attempts at a dark comedy to attempts at real drama. Or how about the fact that this film is filled with lazy and amateur performances by every supporting actor(the lead is passable, I guess). Overall, Vulgar just comes off as bad taste. Everytime this film starts gearing towards the dark and surreal, you sense no voice from the director or script guiding it. It's just being crude and rude for the sake of seeming "edgy." I think there's supposed to be some kind of story about following your dreams or mayeb even vigilante justice in here, but I'm not sure because the script is awful. Actors are forced to say ridiculous lines to convey emotions we don't feel that better actors would be able to subtely convey through action, not talking. If you can find any reason for this film to exist or any merit in it at all, I commend you. Believe me, I looked long and hard and to no avail. Vulgar is amateur crap and I suspect even Kevin Smith completists will be hesitant to add it to their collection.
(br) wrote: Worse than Ishtar!Worst Movie I have ever seen. Worst proformance by Pruitt Taylor I have ever seen. Boring as hell. I'm a huge Sonic Youth fan, thank you Thurston for the music. The writing took 3 minutes, the directing was not the best, and after seeing Pruitt Taylor for the first time in Jacob's Ladder and watching his career unfold ever since, I am disappointed he chose this script.

Brilliant acting, the music score for the final sequence is just unforgettable and Danny gives an equally stellar performance as Amitabh. Although Mithun is quite annoying at times. Top movie though.
