Not all the acting was good and sometimes a bit annoying. But it is a very different kind of horror movie and it is worth the watch.

Jens T (ca) wrote: Oh boy. I always finds these ancient picture difficult to rate, because one must think of the technique and knowledge they had back then. It's clearly not as struturied and as perfect as it is today. But should I have to judge after todays standards I think this film sucks. It's mainly because the shots are two long, for example there's alot of sequence where the characters climb down a rope, from the top to the grown without a single cut. The Picture itself has a running time on a six-and-a-half hours, I can imagine that the whole story chould have been a good and nice two hours long. I don't have anything against the story, I found it quiet interresting. It's the story about a undergrown criminal band called Les Vampires, and is lead by the femme fatale Irma Vep (an anagram for vampire). An investigating is started, lead by newspaper writer Philippe Gurande and his colleage and sidekick Oscar Mazamette who working undercover with the vampires. And that's the only character in this film I really like, with his typical french look with the bald head and big nose. A loveable character. The only thing I wished for this movie to be shorter. Thumbs down.
