Mark Webber excels in building his character throughout this fast-paced film, and Rutina Wesley (Tara from TrueBlood) rocks her role as well. I don't know why it got bad reviews, but I chose to watch it anyway and was pleasantly surprised. I recommended it to 3 others who watched it and loved it too!

Harry W (br) wrote: Bandidas features a saucy premise, featuring hollywood's hottest Latina superstars in a buddy Mexploitation story, and if anything it's comedic to hear them shout semi-Mexican female blather back and fourth at each other, as well as watching them catfight while the musical score just sits back and has a good time at the sight of it.And the screenplay is entertainingly unimpressive and seems like the writers of Sword Fish became vaguely inspired by Robert Rodriguez without thinking to rake a step outside the cliche box, so it's just comedic to witness.Plus, Bandidas is one of the few examples of women-les action films that fall into the Mexploitation genre, and Salma Hayek's work on Desperado and Once Upon a Time Mexico make her perfect for the role, and she makes a good team with Penelope Cruz in terms of chemistry and trigger-happiness, so the two lead actresses deserve praise.Steve Zahn was also decent. And the sex appeal in Bandidas could not be more obvious, but its without being sexist because the characters are still empowering females even though the leads constantly have their breasts in perspective and the fact that the plot dynamics turn it into a teenage boy's wet dream at moments, particularly when Steve Zahn is tied up naked while Salma Hayek uses him to teach Penelope Cruz to kiss while they are both dressed in Burlesque costumes. That's the most memorable part if Bandidas and is certainly appealing, but it symbolises the fact that Bandidas is reaching for the cheap side of entertainment and not doing enough to entertain throughout the majority despite brief moments of fun.Of course, along with the speedy and predictable script, the pacing is utterly ridiculous and forced the actors too keep up with it's need to constantly keep moving without taking a second to think of the characters. Also, the action takes a back seat to predictable plot dynamics on a thin string and the woman vs. woman dialogue which is a shame because its of fairly decent calibre even when the story structure confuses many of the momentsBut in terms of trashy fun and energetic Mexplotation, Bandidas has enough thrills to evoke entertainment for cult followers, but there is little beyond that makes it stand out.
