Doron S (gb) wrote: What a love about this movie, like Amelie, is that it's a beautifully filmed movie, and it's main characters are quirky and enjoyable. Its story has a wonderful message and it's original in it's own way. I'm still finding it hard to believe that the rest of world is still extremely innovative, and stylish, and yet the American industry can't find something truly original to produce,

jesse p (br) wrote: BANNED SINCE 1983!!! Now this is what I'm talking about... A good old fashion Americanised Japanese Samurai film with enough gore and a body count that's over the fucking roof and Lone Wolf and Cub still proves to be one of the greatest manga's ever wrote next too Nausicaa and Akira fucking Easy. Now all you do is put together the first two Lone Wolf films and you get Shogun Assassin a body count exploitation film with gore, nudity and lots and lots of violence. Long ago there was a great samurai warrior who served his Shogun honourably. The Shogun however grew paranoid as he became more and more senile. The Shogun sought to destroy all those who might stand to oppose his rule, and so he sent his ninja spies to the samurai's home. The ninjas failed to kill the samurai, but did kill his beloved wife. From then on, the samurai swore on his honour to seek out the Shogun and avenge the death of his love. The samurai roams the countryside with his toddler son taking on mercenary work for money until the final battle with the Shogun's three Masters of Death. The story is really good and it's hard to tell they even combined and dubbed it... Well I think I lost count of how many died after the 153 person was murdered by Lone Wolf alone, Because Lone Wolf as a character is a fucking amazing along with the story. The acting is just plain awesome but I must say the dubbing isn't perfect and I do hate the voice cast but truly the only negative about the film at least, The music for this addition is pretty good goes with the rhythm at least. The fight are epic and some of the best scenes ever. Here are some facts i found Mark Lindsay (former lead singer for Paul Revere and the Raiders) co-wrote the music with W. Michael Lewis. The performing credit is listed as "The Wonderland Philharmonic." "Wonderland" refers to the house that Lindsay lived in at one time. However, music cues from the original "Kozure kami" films are also used. Shogun Assassin was dubbed into English whereas the originals are in Japanese. The film, being compiled from separate stories, uses a much-simplified version of the situation. For instance, any mention of clan war is gone and the opponent Retsudo is simply called "The Shogun." The filmmakers hired deaf lip readers to help compose dialogue to match the lip movements of the original Japanese actors, and filled in the narrative gaps by adding voice-over narration by Daigoro, performed by the 7-year-old son (Gibran Evans) of Shogun Assassin's poster illustrator, Jim Evans. American actress Sandra Bernhard and director (and former radio actor) Lamont Johnson provided voices in the dubbed edition. Overall epic American Samurai film and my final verdict is recommended.

I pretty muched loved the entire movie, the character development doesn't get any better than this and the story was very interesting. You start off with a loving father and husband with a serious condition, and he only can be saved with this special miracle drug Cortisone. This experimental drug pushes this man and his family to the limits and physiological way! Very Very good story and wonderful performances. Bottom line very great classic/contemporary film and i loved it. Must Own
