Mark T (br) wrote: Usually, a horror flick that gives its psycho more screen time is a big mistake, resulting in less tension and more unintentional humour. That's no problem here. Director Greg McLean is well aware that Aussie legend Mick Taylor is a scenery chewer, with twisted humour fully suiting this character, and this film is all the better for featuring more of him. The crazy opening ten minutes set the tone brilliantly. Directly thereafter we have half of a chase film, with the second half following more of the tone of the original movie. Great fun.

Kalysta H (gb) wrote: Boring... You, as the watcher, didn't have time, nor did you want to sympathize with the characters. They were boring and the movie wasn't nearly as creepy or intense as they wanted it to be.
Madeline M (us) wrote: I liked this movie almost against my will, probably because the characters were so imperfect.

Funny to realise how many of the greats performed together on tour back then. Would not happen today....

Tim S (it) wrote: The Karate Kid Part III is the third in a series of movies about a teenager who learns both karate and life lessons from an old man. The original film was a hit and spawned three sequels and a remake. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that they really should have stopped at two, or maybe even the one. I don't know whose idea it was to turn this into a franchise, but it was a poor one. I haven't really seen the original two films all the way through, but they're not hard to understand and take much away from. They were a part of pop culture for a while too, so that helps. And I can't understand how Ralph Macchio kept getting called back to do more movies. He's the most annoying actor this side of Shia Labeouf. The plot is pretty humdrum and meanders a lot, and Thomas Ian Griffith is just terrible and laughable. Rifftrax did a riffing on this movie, if that tells you anything. Not a great sequel, but it was a sequel that no one really wanted or needed in the first place. Word of advice Hollywood: better quit while you're ahead on this one.

Brian B (fr) wrote: Many people may disagree with this but in my opinion, this is one of the best war films ever made. Sure, it's not a masterpiece but in my opinion, it's very close to being one. This movie is a highly well-done experience.123 U.S. soldiers are dropped into Somalia to capture two top lieutenants of a renegade warlord and they find themselves in a desperate battle with a large number of heavily-armed Somalis.Ridley Scott has created one of the most realistic war movies ever. I actually felt that I was in the middle of the war-zone as it was going on. Because of how much it felt like the actual story, the movie creates a high amount of tension and it makes the viewer realize what exactly went on when the real event happened. The movie does an especially superb job on this because of the realistic environments, shots, and acting. The score is fantastic. When certain scenes happen, it draws emotions out of us. Unlike a lot of movies, Black Hawk Down's score works with the movie. This means that without the music when a certain character dies off or when another important scene happens, it will have an impact on you regardless. But the score makes that feeling you had more massive. Many people dislike the fact that this movie didn't have much character development. It is true that it's light on it but this film isn't focused on developing the characters, nor does it have to. It's completely dedicated to providing us with a first-person perspective of being in the middle of combat. This movie does have a lot of suspense but it can be a bit mundane getting to the good parts. The opening is quite overlong and dry. It is full of military jargon and diagrams. But despite this, this movie is definitely worth seeing. After the opening is over, you're in for a big treat. So in conclusion, this is a truly outstanding movie. Even though the opening is slow, this movie will impress you because of how realistic it is. It has realistic environments, shots, and acting. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest war films ever made.

It's predecessor was also watchable, mainly because of it's better robotic character storyline, but it was difficult bearing the bad onscreen human characters. Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley apparently had no chemistry together and both were annoying. Replacing the human cast did a lot of good to this film. Mark Wahlberg is really great here and he actually substitutes for both LaBeouf and the other military characters in the film. Another fine cast member is Stanley Tucci whose coming timing and acting are really good. The female actors in this film are both attractive and stunning. The film doesn't lag as much as it's predecessor and it's visual effects are outstanding.
