It's been a while since I've watched this movie, and I don't remember most of it except for the 5 notes of it and the aliens. So after watching it, Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a fantastic film. Richard Dreyfuss is great in this, and so are the supporting cast. It's unpredictable in the way that I wasn't quite sure if the aliens were here to kill the humans, or if they were the good ones. The effects still look amazing to this day, which I'm not quite sure how they did that since CGI weren't invented in that day. The direction and writing by Steven Spielberg is well done, and it doesn't go for the tropes that you usually see. The score by John Williams is impressive to hear, and the characters are well developed. Close Encounters of the Third Kind is an amazing film that Steven Spielberg does a great job in terms of making an alien film.

Akash S (us) wrote: From the trailer, and the cast and themes associated with the movie, I expected a lot from it. But after two hours of run-time, I felt really disappointed. None of the actors are properly utilised, the story lacks depth and focus. Other than the last 20 minutes, which was the only effective and moving part, I felt really bored throughout the movie. With the kind of themes the movie deals with, I'm not able to pin-point exactly, it somehow failed to make me feel sympathetic towards any situation or character (except for Aska). And Hirsch's jumpy persona in the first half was quite overdone and annoying. This is an example of a movie which completely squanders massive potential.
