Grant T (it) wrote: Though the film was a mess (as the book seems to be) the film did not let me down in the sense of keeping me watching. My biggest problem was the overload of character after character. It had some awkward moments and some confusing scenes for sure, but the screen adaption of On the Road is a whirlwind of events that manages to keep our mind tied up in a knot and let's it unwind by traveling the country, gleefully down a road that comes with its unexpected share full of people and adventures
Nilufer R (us) wrote: This old movie gave me the creeps, I hate racism and all that shit so I even hated Ryan Gosling for about 90 minutes. I also didn't like the rest of the cast, all were very annoying, it was a depressing and realistic movie.

Matthew S (kr) wrote: If you ask me, Joel Schumacher's work tends to be mediocre. It is rare that he makes a film that captures my attention. For me, this might be is best film. Though far from being great, it does offer Michael Douglas' interesting performance. Schumacher's film never fully commits to being one movie which creates an ultimately unsatisfying experience. Is this dark satire? Is this a horror film? Is this an examination of an ordinary man who gets pushed around to point of a psychotic break? Or is this attempting to be a character study of sociopath who finally breaks into a rage-fueld violence? It is never clear. In some filmmaker's hand this refusal to adhere to any specific genre or provide us with a fuller understanding o "D-fens" (subtle character name, no?) --- might have worked. Though it ultimately fails, Michael Douglas' performance makes the film interesting.
