Mattias E (jp) wrote: Working with a shoestring budget, Donnie Yen still makes quite an impression as first time-director with Legend Of The Wolf, but almost exclusively on a technical level. The future Ip Man-impersonator sure knows his way around the action parts of the movie, and manages some creative shots of himself showing off in a wide range of styles. But the plot soon peters out into melodramatic oblivion, including a few ill-advised love scenes, until there's only the thrill of well-choreographed violence left. And that ain't so bad, actually.

Brian R (br) wrote: This is one of those Cold War-era dramas that hasn't aged very well at all. Ostensibly about surviving the aftermath of a nuclear attack on America, it might as well have been a movie about a camping tip gone awry for lack of any sort of demonstration of said nuclear attack. And it was pretty amusing watching the father teach his family about the need to be selfish in such an environment yet gets all indignant when shopkeepers and gas station owners try to gouge him. Might be worth a viewing as a historic relic, but that's about it.
