Marat P (es) wrote: The film succeeds in creating a totally believable dramatic world and characters. The execution of the long takes is wonderful. Maybe it's a bit too bourgeois and doesn't have a profound philosophical message, but it's still very impressive.
Jay B (mx) wrote: Another movie I had high hopes for, then it was a roller skating movie. WTF??

Zachary Y (de) wrote: Vertigo is Hitchcock's undisputed best as a director, And James Stewart gives an ahead of his time, further proving him as an anachronism. Where the plot and story die down, the visual richness and immersive directing still soar. This film, however, has unfoundedly replaced Citizen Kane as AFI's best film.
Eric J (it) wrote: Cute comedy that sported a great cast. An early Cinemascope picture.
Andy P (fr) wrote: Dziga Vertov makes his case for the revolutionary potential of cinema, exploiting almost every device of filming and editing-slow motion, animation, multiple images, split-screen, zooms, blurring focus and freeze-frames-to create a textbook of film technique as well as a glorious tribute to everything movie-making can be.
Frances H (nl) wrote: Occasionally when I decide to watch a movie with bad reviews, I'm pleasantly surprised by a delightful film I never would have seen if I had listened to other people's opinions. But this film was not such an experience. The scenes of the California coast were beautiful and the end credits were nice, but otherwise it very mediocre despite Lauren Bacall and Alfred Molina. Oh well, you win some and you lose some and this was a loser.
Sake L (kr) wrote: I would love to give this movie a negative rating. This is the most pretentious movie I've ever seen. I feel so bad for Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, they risk their reputation with this movie. I am very sad that this is not the movie it was supposed to be.
