Rich F (gb) wrote: very interesting documentary with some compelling footage filmed but an even more compelling story of a man's character and breakdown

Robin W (gb) wrote: Hero: Slugs have contaiminated the water supply. We'll declare a health emergency! Mayor: You ain't got the authority to declare Happy Birthday! As bad a movie as "Slugs" is, I'd say it was almost worth sitting through just to hear that exchange! This hilariously bad European effort is from Juan Piquer Simon, who was responsible for the infamous "Pod People", the source of one of Mystery Science Theater's all-time classic episodes, and he proves to be just as inept a director as he was in that film. Admittedly, there are some pretty cool gore effects and lots of entertainment value to be found here, but this one is strictly for bad movie completists. The ending has to be seen to be believed as the heroes set off explosives in the sewer system to wipe out the slugs and pretty much blow up THE ENTIRE TOWN, which means they probably end up killing more innocent people than the slugs ever could!

Ki R (nl) wrote: I liked it the first time I saw it, but it wasn't until the second time I watched it that I really appreciated it. This movie has a lot to say about life in Japan for non-Japanese people, and the general attitude of Japan towards them. Anyone who has lived in Japan should appreciate this movie. The music is also beautiful and haunting.
