Ferren C (es) wrote: KAIDAN(2007) by Hideo Nakata(The Ring,Dark Water) is probably the best horror drama I've seen in years. In our current web-savvy generation, we have been trashed with numerous recycled horror movies that does not leave a lasting impression in our minds. KAIDAN is an old fashion film which reminded me of the 50s and 60s Jap horror. This movie will remain as one of a true CLASSICS up there. I placed it next to my current favourite,SHUTTER(Thailand).

Charles P (fr) wrote: The over-the-top gore-geyser grisliness and bizarre special effects weaken the dark humor and belittle the horror in this sequel to the very entertaining original.
Jeff B (de) wrote: I was a bit hesitant to watch this film, but it turned out not being too bad. Greek film about a Greek myth involving a military leader who is forced to sacrifice his daugther to the gods in order to gain victory for his army. It starts out pretty slow with very little dialogue but once once the commanding Irene Papas shows up, it gets interesting and intriguing. The second half is dialogue heavy, or rather, drawn out, but it's still well done. The sets and costumes are good and the acting is all very well done, but like most myths, the story is very simply and predictable and the story is always so dragged on and everything needs to be explained in such extreme detail even though the concept is so simple.
Thomas P (au) wrote: The leads are like two Volvos parked next to each other - high quality, but not much chemistry together, and it all goes downhill - rather slowly - from there. Alfred had lost two of his collaborators before this film and he had a falling out with his long-time music director during the shoot. The humorless script and strict studio involvement dampen things even more glumly. Noticeably missing something from the start. Sad. And the heaviness never really let up.If you look, you will find the directors fingerprints here- overall tho, it just doesn't quite come together. 2 out of 5 spies on a slow, slow boat
