Tyler S (us) wrote: This was a really good film, fueled by a top notch cast. I really liked the grittiness of the Boston area crime film, and the mystery behind the disappearance of a girl.It has element of a good crime movie. Gritty hard nosed cast, public outcries, and overall mystery trying to figure out what happened. It builds up pretty nicely, to a payoff that I thought would be a little better. I like all the scenes, but for some reason I thought the ending would be better. I liked act 1 better than act 2.

Rob R (ca) wrote: I think calling the bell a bell from hell is a bit harsh. It's really playing a small passive role in this thing really. No. 6/50 in the Chilling collection, this is quite a weird film. The first 40 minutes, just before I gave up for the night, were dull, confusing and, at times mental. What he was trying to achieve to get the old geezer to help him have a piss is beyond me. But when he started revenging, it kind of perked up a bit. Then stopped at an anti climax when he, not to give away the plot, gives up on the revenge idea. But then the film redeems itself in the final denouement, which is actually quite chilling.

Rourke is so good and so compelling here it's as if this one role is why he ever started worked in acting. Note: this is not sentimental-but extremely entertaining. Tomei is great, too.
