Ernstfall in Havanna

Stefan Balsiger is a congenial, average councillor to the Swiss embassy in Havanna. While accompanying an US senator on his mission in Cuba, he makes a botch of so many things, that a minor blunder by the Senator turns into a serious incident, which intensifies into a second Cuban crisis - thanks to further entanglements by the media, police, and diplomats who represent the arch-enemies USA and Cuba. Only one person can eventually solve the crisis: Stefan Balsiger himself.

Al M (es) wrote: Directed by Robert (Freddy Krueger) Englund himself and starring the geeky friend from Fright Night, 976-EVIL is--as you might suspect from its pedigree--a trashy late-80s horror film that never really knows where it wants to be scary or just farcical. It plays like the later Nightmare on Elm Street films and even features a character who kills others with his satanically clawed hands. The film's plot is basic: an occult horoscope (or "horrorscope") line allows one bullied young man to get revenge upon his tormentors and his abusively Christian mother. Dumb and predictable, 976-EVIL is highly entertaining for those who enjoy trashy 80s horror cinema, but everyone else should stay away.

Matt S (ca) wrote: This film definitely could not be made now, but as a farce and a satire of the prevailing racial views of the time, it is a smash hit.

Jane H (ca) wrote: I preferred this to the later film On the Town. Nice to see just two main men instead of the customery three. Fabulous performance from Gene Kelly, I particularly liked the animated dance sequences. I am not keen on Ms Grayson's vocals but she does a good job. Although I think she is upstaged by the plainer 'waitress Brooklyn' who has bags of personality. A nice cameo from the kindly Mr Iturbi.

Reece L (br) wrote: Aside from an awful, cutesy opening line ("This never happened to the other guy"), On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a solid, stylishly produced, and surprisingly affecting Bond film that ejects most of the gimmickry in favor of a more down to earth tone and some excellent action sequences. It doesn't measure up the absolute best of the series due to Lazenby's merely passable performance and its bloated length, but it mostly works, especially the utilization of some gorgeous mountain scenery and its commitment to the idea that there should be repercussions for Bond's actions, a theme that would become more prevalent in the more recent, all-around better Bond installments featuring Craig. The finale is killer, delivering an emotional blow that most films in the series wouldn't even consider.
