(es) wrote: (1 1/2 Stars) Somebody must absolutely hate the New Orleans Police Department... in Bending the Rules, they're corrupt, idiotic, and very bad at their jobs. This film is extremely uninteresting and for a movie made by WWE Studios, there are very little action scenes... I believe there's a shootout at the end that lasts less than thirty seconds. I don't remember Edge ever fighting, which is probably the only reason some people want to see this. The story is just bad; it's a paint-by-number buddy movie with a boring plot about finding an Assistant DA's (Jamie Kennedy) car. Detective Nick Blades (Edge) has a 'tough' last name and doesn't play by the rules... where have you heard that before? I think we're supposed to think the DA is a prick (casting Jamie Kennedy helps), but his character doesn't really do anything that makes him seem dickish; he does his job and his girlfriend sucks, so we're on his side. The cops are awful; their only contribution to the film is a ton (and I mean A TON) of lame taser-related puns. The movie has one positive: WWE Superstar Adam "Edge" Copeland is a very charismatic, funny, good-looking, and likable actor. With a good script, I think he can command a movie. It's sad that this junk and Highlander: Endgame are basically his acting career. So should you see Bending the Rules? There's no reason to.

(au) wrote: Office Killer is a darkly comic slasher flick from an independent director with a lot of talent. Actually, talent is in abundance here. Molly Ringwald and Jeanne Triplehorn give fine performances, but it's Carol Kane who really makes the movie. Her creepy portrayal of the psycho secretary with a bone to pick is entirely A class for a B class picture.
