Marischa B (gb) wrote: In my personal opinion, Bound is one of the most intelligent and erotic films ever made. It's not often that you see both of those words describing the same work of art.I don't feel that the relationship between Corky and Violet is something that you should have to "get past" being that the tone of the film is that of escape (hence the title "Bound") and the very nature of their relationship upholds that idea. However if you are less open-minded regarding your own sexuality or completely homophobic, the scattered and brief exchanges between the two leading characters may not settle well with you. One of the best things about the film is the cinematic detail, all the little disturbing and intriguing things that the Wachowskis chose to hone in on...If you are a fan of The Matrix films, you'll really get to see where it all started with Bound.I could rattle on forever about the pure genius of the film and that of the Wachowski Brothers but I won't. Just see the film for yourself, you'll either hate it or love it.

Steve W (ag) wrote: The movie is just good enough. It reeks of being Oscar bait, with a biopic about the influential filmmaker/comic and his tumultuous personal relationships. As a big fan of Chaplin, it was nice to see a weird stroll through memory lane, as he starts from vaudville and works his way up to the Hollywood big leagues. The performances are fine enough, but especially the females. Chaplin is a very solid biopic with talented people all around.
Gil G (gb) wrote: This movie shouldn't have a 0%. It deserves a 30. Its at least tolerably funny particularly because of Robert Downey Jr. 0 is Jack and Jill territory (where movies are so bad they can't be laughed at).

Donald W (ru) wrote: This movie has all the great comic actors of the 1970's and 1980's but it's not that funny. The writers tried to rely on physical comedy but the verbal comedy was flat. The title character is taken from the real pirate Black Beard. The more recent movie Pirates of the Caribbean has a similar theme but is a much better movie. This was the last movie Marty Feldman made before he died.
Amber K (fr) wrote: This movie is 100% perfect. I have absolutely no interest in hockey, and I still don't, but this movie is perfect.
corey m (fr) wrote: let's just start with the obvious thing, there's only one "L" in Van Helsing. Mr. Hyde is used as nothing more than cheap comic refief, sure it's suppose to show how badass Mr Van Helsing is, but only shows how incompetent Mr. Hyde is. (this movie has barely started). Then he goes to visit Q from MI-6 to get the specific equipment he'll need he goes some place to face dracula and the brides of dracula, which is pointless because said monsters don't kill anybody any way! The wolfman is nothing more than means for helsing to get the super natural power to defeat dracula, who should have killed this mortal man a dozen times over with his super natural powers! few movies are worse than this...
Art S (es) wrote: I have fond memories of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Holmes and Watson (respectively). Channel 38 (Boston) used to have a mystery movie every Saturday night (at 11:30 PM, I think) often featuring Sherlock Holmes (or Mr. Moto or Charlie Chan). I used to watch these with my Dad (who often fell asleep). The Scarlet Claw treads the same terrain as the Hound of the Baskervilles, with a spooky creature haunting the marshes of French Quebec (but really a revenge killer who is a master of disguise). As usual, Watson is a lovable buffoon but Holmes solves the case anyway.
