Vaibhav W (kr) wrote: Subtle, easy going but not always profound, Megane is about going from hollow existence to an holistic one in a rural setting. Minimal dialogue and sparse but great background cello solo!

Raybo J (it) wrote: I loved this movie, even though I had to close my eyes during some of the torture scenes, because it was so authentic. It is an incredible, and true story about one man's quest for redemption and acknowledgment, and the people that both support him and block him in his path. The children were particularly wonderful, as was the actress who played the teacher.

ray h (es) wrote: This is a Korean version of Dangerous Liaisons. It is set in dynastic Korea of the 1700s. The story is somewhat different from the American film of 1988. The emphasis here is upon the Valmont character, Lord Jo-won (Bae Jon-yoon) and the chaste widow, Madam de Tourvel, here is Lady Jeong (Jeong Do-yeon). The acting and dialogue between these two is very good. This movie can be recommended based upon the interaction of these characters alone. This timeless story of deceit, revenge, depravity, seduction, and betrayal is very well done. The revenge seeking Glenn Close character is somewhat down-played. The young, aspiring lover, played by Keanu Reeves in the American film, is also given a less important role in the story. The costuming and sets are very good. There is a nice re-creation of the time period.

David F (ru) wrote: A slow-moving literary adaptation, 'Washington Square' faithfully brings to the screen the Henry James novel of the same name, with sets and costumes depicting New York city in the 19th century. The film is somewhat pedestrian, in keeping with its source material, but the performances are wonderful, especially Jennifer Jason Leigh who plays a doctor's daughter who is at first somewhat simple, docile and shy but later comes into her own, earning her independence through a long, drawn-out period of quiet desperation.
