Federal Bank Heist
"The Baron" wanted to commit the perfect heist involving 3 tons of money and no violence. For this he would need the right people willing to get 1 million dollars to take part in this job. Based on true events, in 2005, 168,000,000 Brazilian Real (almost 80,000,000 US dollars) were stolen from a Brazilian Central Bank (Federal Reserve), making it the biggest peace-time robbery in history. (br) wrote: A parody for people who thought Hot Shots and Scary Movie were comic genius. This one's just as much a satire of pop culture and America's social media obsession as it a play on Hunger Games. Besides, any movie with Diedrich Bader is guaranteed for a few hard laughs.

The director has done a great job displaying the political situation, the mechanics of decision-making and the various predicaments the political leaders in charge are faced with. I was impressed in particular by the action scenes towards the end, as well as by the portrayal of the camaraderie among the soldiers leading the rescue operation and the emotional effects their actions had on the remaining hostages. The ending saved the movie, in a way, for my problem with the first two hours of Raid on Entebbe was the very lack of such emotional involvement. This is partly due to the fact there are so many characters in the story it is hard to get intensively involved with any of them. I also felt the terrorists were too mild and not quite intimidating enough to really frighten the hostages, who did indeed not give the impression of being very scared by the situation they were in (they talk to the terrorists, they can sleep in a stressy situation, etc.). The terrorists seemed reasonably approachable and open to humane suggestions (they transport sick people to hospital, release half the hostages and do not kill any of the remaining ones to pressurize the authorities into making a fast decision). The switches between the scenes in which the plight of the hostages is shown and those in which those on the outside discuss the situation are well edited, although the talking is a bit dry at times. Yaphet Kotto??s performance as Idi Amin is a big plus, though I would have liked to see more scenes with him in it. His character is the much-desired comedy element in a movie as serious as this one.

(mx) wrote: Watched this when i was a little kid and left me enchanted, and yes a little afraid so my inner child rates it a 5 because of its unorthodox view of santa claus mixed in with the battle of good and evil.through the eyes of a kid this is as much of a cult classic as "Dumbo."
