Blood, and broken bones is a part of being an underground fighter, but for L.G., Jeremy and Conrado there is much more to it. For them it's a way out, it's a way to support a family, and a way to carry on a tradition. However, Mack and Napoleon, the two men running the fights for their gambling website, see the fighters as dogs, expendable, and a cheap way to entertain their online audience.

(au) wrote: Such films are strange, first because they are very good in the sense that the viewer comes very disturbing and today it is difficult to get that on film, but should not go to extremes to create this feeling. A SERBIAN FILM shows a strong history and development is very good, but would give much praise for a movie that does not show violence as in the case of IT FOLLOWS and The Babadook
(it) wrote: This might be the oddest reaction I've had to a movie in a long time. Overall, the movie was a complete bore. I think it was poorly directed by Jonathan Demme. The length was tantamount to watching paint dry. Granted, it was primarily centered around women, so drama is a given, but the extent and unending drama in this movie is unnecessary and quite stupid. Yet...Anne Hathaway, as nails-on-chalkboard irritating as she is in this movie, obviously pulls off a stunning performance since I completely removed Anne Hathaway from the role. She WAS Kym. And, thus, as bad as the movie was, Anne Hathaway moved up a level in my book. A fantastic performance definitely worthy of the Oscar nod.

This dazzling animation even though it's short, but it has a effective dark tone, gruesome, and intense. Although I do wish it was longer, then it probably would have been a better Anime.

(it) wrote: At times a little too maverick, Zemeckis still delivers a darkly fun time. Even when the script indulges, writer David Koepp sprinkles enough chuckles in his script, aided by our charismatic main duo. Streep and Hawn really running with their supernatural catfight for all it's worth, and it is a treat, while Willis, against type, whimpers in the corner.

(jp) wrote: I've seen tons of World War II movies. This one focuses on the French Resistance and it's a pretty damn good one. The film's slow and methodical and violence is minimal (but startling when it happens onscreen) but filled with tension and suspense all throughout. The cast is great especially Simone Signoret. I think the film would've been totally outstanding if they had focused on her character a bit more. But as it is, it's still a pretty excellent film though "La Samourai" still remains my favorite Jean Pierre Melville film.
