Nick C (kr) wrote: As a documentary about the rock band called The Stooges, Gimme Danger is absolutely one of the most entertaining and riveting music documentary films I've ever seen this year!

Imparting this look into prog rock was one of the coolest things and one of my best memories of my Dad and I hanging out when I was younger. The doc is pretty well patterned; the story just tells the stories of the band growing up and their career - pretty straightforward stuff. The big takeaway is just how generally easygoing and funny the band actually is and their sense of humor and Canadian quaint upbringing is reflected in their just wanting to be the best band they can be and make the best and craziest music they can. It's on Netflix! Go watch it, if not for the groovy tunes alone!

Eric R (it) wrote: Eunice walks the English highways from gas station to gas station looking for Judith, the love of her life. Eunice is an unstable violent person. She ends up murdering gas attendants not named Judith, when they aren't her love. She meets Mariam, a gas station attendant, who feels sorry for Eunice. She wants to "save" Eunice, and she ends up going along on the quest for Judith. This is a "Lovers on the Run" story which intercuts black and white footage of Mariam talking about the happenings which are going on in the film. Mariam loves Eunice, and although she doesnt approve of Eunice's knack for violence, she just can't leave her. Amanda Plummer is fantastic as the unstable Eunice. Her performance is explosive and scary, as you never know what's she's going to do next. The one problem I have is that Its hard to believe Mariam's devotion and love for Eunice. It happens very fast and could have probably used a little more of a build up. If you can ignore this though, you get a very interesting, comedic yet creepy narcissistic movie.

Ken S (au) wrote: Friedkin knows how to shoot a movie, but this one just doesn't work. Pacino's motivation and his feelings on his assignment are never that clear, and the motivation of the killer he is hunting is just as muddled. Why is he committing these crimes? Something to do with a ghost dad, I guess. It's an interesting movie, one that plays with material you'd rarely see in the early 80s and even today...but it just doesn't have a strong enough story OR make the motivations of both the hero and villain clear. Just makes it all feel like a big waste.

Jos ei muuten niin elokuva on kiinnostava riipivn, realistisen ajankuvansa ansiosta. Posassa nhdn Albert Finney.
