Flubber

Professor Phillip Brainard, an absent minded professor, works with his assistant Weebo, trying to create a substance that's a new source of energy and that will save Medfield College where his sweetheart Sara is the president. He has missed his wedding twice, and on the afternoon of his third wedding, Professor Brainard creates flubber, which allows objects to fly through the air.

The movie tells the story of Professor Philip Brainard who concocts a physics-defying substance that may help him raise enough money to save the college from closure. Uneven but good natured. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Judy D (br) wrote: I loved this movie. Well-acted and subtle. Not for the action/adventure crowd. but if you like nuance over the obvious, give it a try.

Collin R (br) wrote: Little birds was promising until the girls run to LA. At that point it becomes nice acting of very shallow, uninteresting characters with nowhere to go.

Steve F (ru) wrote: Amazing documentary into a broken system in the US and around the world. The film starts out in a fresh, upbeat style and ends with meaningful stories of innocent people's lives ruined.

Allan C (nl) wrote: I remember dismissing this film as just another in a long string of Quentin Tarantino rip-offs. However, watching it now, it's really just a solid crime story that doesn't bear much similarities to Tarantino films outside of it being violent and having Harvey Keitel and a strong ensemble cast. The revenge story about about Keitel going after a sleazeball who screwed him over after a robbery is solid, though it begins to meander after a point and loses some of it's momentum. However, a strong performances by a solid cast (Keitel, Stephen Dorff, Timothy Hutton, Famke Janssen, Michael Jai White, Lucy Liu, and Elliott Gould) make it worth watching. The underrated John Irvin directed the film.

David F (es) wrote: Ron Shelton, best known for his sports comedies like 'Bull Durham', 'Tin Cup' and 'White Men Can't Jump' switches gears with this colorful, outrageous, and ultimately poignant story of a most unlikely romance, loosely based on the exploits of legendary Louisiana Governor Earl Kemp Long and his relationship with beautiful burlesque queen Blaze Starr. Although busty and perky Lolita Davidovich shines in the title role, this film is really Newman's - his Earl Long is a Rabelaisian force of nature, a tireless and unapologetic campaigner and a shrewd politician - the type of man who, after failing in bed, apologizes 'for the Great State of Louisiana'. Shelton does a fine job recreating the steamy and flavorful essense of a Deep South on the cusp of the tremendous upheavals brought on by the burgeoning civil-rights movement. The liberties the film takes with the facts can be forgiven as serving the greater good - exaggeration and big-fish tales seem perfectly appropriate to the subject.

Michael S (ca) wrote: I'm not sure why this was included in a horror movie boxset, since it's actually an action film. This movie is pretty dang cheesy, as can be expected from the late 1980's/early 1990's. But that's also part of the fun of this movie. The explosions are big, the action outrageous, and the characters exuberiant. This movie is enjoyable as a popcorn movie, but you need to through logic- and geography out the window. Somehow Cuba, South Africa, and Germany share common borders, and the Soviet troops have no problems parading around causing trouble in uniform. Cheesy, but fun for a single viewing.

Ken S (it) wrote: This decent courtroom drama and thriller stars Jeff Bridges as a man accused of murdering his wife, and Glenn Close as his attorney, a former prosecutor still hurting from a case in which she put an innocent man behind bars. The cast elevates the material from humdrum to decent. It isn't the best film, but I stayed engaged throughout, and there was a fun twist at the end. The twist was even more fun for me, as I suddenly got the joke ending to a Harvey Bridman episode. Solid though I won't say it is without it's flaws.

Jonathan P (jp) wrote: Unknown is like Saw mixed with The Usual Suspects. It is entertaining fluff with little substance but an enjoyable premise and good acting. Nothing great but a movie that will have you wondering who is who even if you really aren't that invested.
