Andy P (es) wrote: Strong performances from Phillippe, Cornish and Gordon-Levitt save this film from disaster. The plot is very muddled to the point that it seemed to go in circles at times. By the end of the film, I felt like the conclusion made everything that preceded it a waste of time.

MF J (kr) wrote: Michelle Pfeiffer as a teacher forced to work in one of the toughest school in the country is really good in this film. The film isn't creative or new in any ways since the story of one teacher changing the minds of his pupils has already been done often before but here it's rough, it's nervous & Pfeiffer really manages to bring it on. Good effort & killer soundtrack.

Clever, witty and often poignant. The movie is funny, moving and provocative at the same time. I can't wait to see the stage version of this.Anne Bancroft is such an amazing talent. The scenes between mother and son towards the end is dynamite performance at its best. You'll see the frustration, the anguish and ultimately the bond between mother and son.
Jason D (kr) wrote: Bill Hinzman (the infamous graveyard zombie of George Romero's Night of the Living Dead) writes/directs/stars in his own spinoff film (LOL) where is is dug up from a cyrptic stone coffin by an unknowing farmer and unleashed into the farmlands of some generic hicktown on Halloween night where teens are running rampart and trying to fuck each other silly. Though the acting and dialog may be utterly terrible, we are graced with a bevy of gore and titties. Hinzman's direction really isn't that bad; in fact, it's even clever of him to always be the zombie that kills and eats (and fondles) naked women. In the end, this film serves as a major ripoff of Romero's classic (especially the last 10 minutes or so), but this film is still a lot of fun to watch. It's always fun to watch children die as well, as this film seems to have some darker undertones, causing one to wonder what exactly goes on in that old fuck's head. Good film.
James H (au) wrote: Good score, typical Joan Crawford movie of the 1950's, perhaps not quite as good as her others in this period. she's appropriately melodramatic. Cliff Robertson just doesn't cut it though, i think he is miscast and over his head in the role. still, good, as is every film Joan Crawford is in.
