Courtney K (jp) wrote: ooooo! another anthology! i didn't think this was terrible. more often than not did the short stories surprise me -- the main story was predictable but started out strong, too... it's weird. if you like weird, then you may like this.

Luke M (de) wrote: It doesn't get much darker - or more satisfying - than Harry Brown, a vigilante thriller about an old man who refuses to let scum rule London's streets any longer.

Dave C (ag) wrote: Picture the scene New York at night, a drunken couple wander down to the pier to go out on a boat, when suddenly a couple of large rubber tentacles start flailing about near them. Thankfully our actors have the presence of mind to grab the tentacles and wrap them about themselves to ensure the film opens with some action. Don't worry the special effects do improve as the film goes, although in places this is due to some special effects and shots from the first film being not so cunningly placed in the film. Unfortunately overall the special effects are not as good in this sequel which is a shame really as the story does improve on the first film as we do have more octopus action, with the creature being much more central to the story and this time it's killing New Yorkers. In the first film the octopus attacked a sub, a cruise liner and a helicopter, but in this one the octopus we get to the see the octopus attack the Statue of Liberty. The story does borrow from the Jaws films with the police officer trying to convince the mayor that there is a killer shark I mean octopus on the rampage.

Aidan H (jp) wrote: De Niro in one of his lesser-known roles plays a complex and charming ruffian winning the heart of shy teacher while attempting to exorcise her brother of the demons he carries from the Vietnam War. Small-scale but very disarming performances build to a shattering climax as these buried traumas come to the service, illustrated by some flashbacks from the war zone. The relationship between the three characters was believable and Ed Harris in particular was superb as the alcoholic vet whose memories of the horrors of battle turn him away from life. There have been better films about vets and the problems they face back home but this isn't one of the bad ones by any means.

Ibraheem M (au) wrote: A classic suspense thriller indeed originating from the Hitchcockian school featuring a wonderful cast.
