(mx) wrote: The even-handed storytelling comes off more as a lack of information - I felt very in the dark on this one, and the eerie cutaways and hearsay from local do-gooders did not help. The film lacked a voice, yet still the filmmakers put themselves in the limelight unnecessarily.

(it) wrote: This movie had a lot of promise. Instead it just used every single opportunity to make it about the gore factor. That doesn't make for a very compelling movie to me. It was okay...the acting wasn't horrible, and it was pretty amusing when it came down to it. I believe it was geared towards 17-29 year old boys, if that is any indication of the humor and horror.

Made by the people behind Anaconda, with effects by the effects crew of Jurassic Park, this is a surprisingly well-made little flick with far above-average creature effects and mostly great acting from everyone. I didn't like however, how almost all the characters that are attacked by the creatures are done-so off-screen except one. People will just show up with cuts and blood on them and they'll mention how they were just attacked, but we don't actually get to see it. Got annoying after awhile, although the one we do get to see, of a character being dragged under the floor of a house by a Komodo dragon, was done really awesomely. I also didn't really care for the kid going all Rambo half-way through, but that's just a minor thing. Overall, this is a really good movie with a Jurassic Park-kind of feel to it.
