James C (gb) wrote: I saw this movie in Philadelphia recently. What I like about this movie is that it affirms the importance of love between father and son and how such love requires care and effort to come through.Unlike run-of-the-mill movies that dish out plenty of sex, violence and guile, this movie is made for all ages, and especially for people who like to sing.It is a movie for young people who have yet to understand the meaning of family love. This movie could remind otherwise jaded adults that love is possible only if one can give it. For this reason alone, I give it a five star rating.

Isadore H (ca) wrote: Fracture stars Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling and is about a court case where Hopkins killes his wife and Gosling is the prosecuting lawyer. First off the acting here is stupendous, the two leads make for a great duo and their chemistry is palpable. There is a real sense of tension and fear for Goslings character, and the trials he faces feel like life and death. Hopkins is cunning and manipulating, it feels like he is in control for much of this film. The plot is actually quite unlikely, but it there were some scenarios where it felt plausible at times. I liked the ending, but it felt to me like there could've been more information given to the audience. All in all, despite major liberties taken with the plot, Fracture is a solid time viewing with two mesmerizing performances that puts an audience in the moment, and definitely makes up for the unlikeliness of the situation.

Stuart K (ag) wrote: Written and directed by John Herzfeld, (Two of a Kind (1983), 2 Days In The Valley (1996)), this thriller grew from a character in The Preppie Murder (1989), a TV movie Herzfeld directed, this character inspired the lead in this film, which is intended to be a dark satire on the media, but most of it is unintentionally funny, and it is a sleazy and dirty film which will leave it's viewers feeling very unclean indeed. It begins with Eastern European convicts Emil Slovak (Karel Roden) and Oleg Razgul (Oleg Taktarov) coming to New York to collect money from a bank heist they committed in Russia. While in New York, they steal a camcorder, and when their contact Milos Karlova (Vladimir Mashkov) admits he's spent the money, they kill him and film it, and they burn down the apartment to make it look like an accident. Arson investigator Jordy Warsaw (Edward Burns) and NYPD detective Eddie Flemming (Robert De Niro) arrive on the scene, and deduct it was no accident. Meanwhile, slimy TV news anchor Robert Hawkins (Kelsey Grammer) wants the video of the crime commiitted. There's too much going on in the film, and it jolts between storylines and it would have been boring if it had been a longer film. It could have benefited from a tighter, leaner script with more focus on the heroes and less on the nasty villains, who are loathsome. Plus, there's a shocker of a killing half way through which brings the film down.

Ben R (it) wrote: This movie was more entertaining with the budget of like a few thousand dollars, than that of a 200 million dollar slice of hollywood shitcake. It's such a shame Jim Van Bebber never made more films like this.

Daniel A (jp) wrote: Dated seventies sex comedy contains a nostalgic novelty, but lacks real laughs and narrative momentum. Dudley Moore plays on his slapstick talents and quirky charm, but his character is wily and unlikeable, while Julie Andrews shows moments of great potential, but suffers from a lack of screentime outside of her costar's shadow. Meanwhile Bo Derek bounces rather agreeably in slow motion along the beach, providing the main reason why most viewers will want to go back and revisit this badly aged comedy. There's not much else to enjoy here.

James R (mx) wrote: Interesting! I had been looking to see this movie for years! Riding the famous Splash Mountain ride in Disneyland i would always wonder what the ride was based on. This controversial film has some very dated moments involving the black workers and the way they are shown in the film. It can be seen as racist, but it actually has a pretty good moral story to it all at the end of the film. The mixture of animation and life action was super well done especially for its time. I enjoyed finally learning about the tale of Brear Rabbit, but I know this won't be for everyone!

Alan P (fr) wrote: A complicated and complex plot for complicated and complex viewers. A great flick for sic-fi fans, complete with space, mutants, and an array of subplots.

Bill B (br) wrote: Beautifully shot, the mystery aspect actually kept me guessing right up until the end of the film, red herrings and all, and who wouldn't want your significant other to help you solve the murder of your girlfriend?!? That's a woman who LOVES your sorry ass my friend.Recommended.
