Nick J (it) wrote: Shaolin was a great film. Jackie Chan was a great point of light in a film otherwise filled with darkness, bloodshed, and paranoia. A definite recommendation if you are looking for a film with action enveloped in a story of pain and peace.

AD V (nl) wrote: It has FX standard for a Sci-Fi channel movie, a blatant comparison to the war in Iraq and less than stellar acting yet against all better judgment I still liked this movie. It probably has alot to do with the fact I loved the first, liked the second and think Marnette Patterson is really hot so don't attack me if you see it and hate it.

Dave M (kr) wrote: For all you dudes and dudettes out there in the space time continuum, you best get your dvd warmed up for this mind bending thriller about two fish out of water Frenchmen living in modern times. Whoa!

Michael W (br) wrote: Speedo knife fight! Foreign Legionnaires don't need much of an excuse to take their shirts off, apparently. Since the movie never explains character motivations, I just imagined it was because they were so bored stuck out in the middle of nowhere.

Debbie T (kr) wrote: THIS one you absolutely CAN NOT Miss!!! It's a great laugh throughout the entire movie! Christina Ricci rocks in this!

David S (ca) wrote: There's some dull parts--standard TV footage in lieu of a careful establishing of the history. What replaces it makes one a little queasy: there are so many opportunists surrounding this story, it's hard to find any redeeming characteristic in any of the people involved, including the filmmaker himself to some extent.

Omar L (kr) wrote: Excellent movie! Andy Garcia and Richard Gear are spectacular and deliver award worthy performances. Gere is so damn convincing as a morally corrupt cop with an endless amount of dirty tricks up his sleeve. Garcia is the Internal Affair's officer who is sharp, but has his macho Latin temper that is his Achilles's heal that Gere's character loves to take advantage of. Every scene between Gere and Garcia is worth watching multiple times for the dialogue and chemistry they have together. This is a solid crime film. 9/10 from me.

Jake P (jp) wrote: It's like a Fellini, Jodorowsky & Bunuel love triangle, resulting in Herzog. A truly bizarre, barbaric & strangely poetic film.

Martin E (ca) wrote: It's not one of his best, but once again he proves that he is a great action star. I figure he appreciates the books, which is why he attempts to portray a written character who is described quite differently.

Hank V (jp) wrote: In the first half of the movie, seeing Denzil Washington manipulate his way out of impossible dilemmas is intriguing to watch. But as he pulls his butt out of the fire over and over again, it becomes impossibly implausable. Nevertheless, there are enough unexpected twists thrown into the mix to make it a good movie, certainly worth watching. Detective suspense, with outstanding acting from Denzel Washington (of course.)

Justin G (de) wrote: As a fan of the games it's the best video game movie made. As some who had never played the games I can understand the low scores.

Jason M (nl) wrote: I saw this film in the Azores, Portugal of all places. It came out after the Columbine tragedy and I think it is disgusting that this film tries to somehow capitalize and evoke empathy from a serious real-life tragedy. There is little dialogue in this film. As such, it is very realistic and believable. Simply, the visual story of a couple of outcasts who organize a mass slaughter at their high school. They are spiritually devoid human beings and are presented as everyday kids. They are able to arm themselves enough to wipe out much of the student population. The title means nothing. This film means nothing. I hope it is not viewed by children who learn from it to carry out a copycat catastrophe. Some losers may look at this film and find it intriguing to emulate. If this is ever acted upon, the filmmaker Gus Van Sant should be jailed for life. Shame on him for this production. This piece of trash should never have been released in wide distribution.
