This isn't a man but a cliche and when he gets tired, he wants a divorce. So what if he now dates a white woman, that's his business. This isn't really a movie but a commentary on how African American men and women view intra-black relationships, aggressive black women, and interracial coupling. How you respond depends on your culture but it's entertaining. There are three accents that I love to listen to: a native St. Lucian telling a joke in creole, Southerners talking about politics or justice, and African Americans expressing anger. This movie offers a lot of street-wise humor from African Americans in beauty salons, bars, and literallly standing on street corners. It's clever that they're shown clips of the actual movie, or other opinions, and asked to comment. The central story focuses on Jimmy Jean-Louis (very charming) as James and Paula Lema as his wife Tanya. However, the best scenes are the commenters which turns the movie into a documentary. I didn't see "Diary Of A Mad Black Woman" which was written by Tyler Perry so I don't know if this movie is meant as a spoof or if it succeeds. However, I found it funny and it made me smile alot. Also, I wouldn't dare to differ with any of the opinions of the commenters.

Sono's ability to create a sense of magic dealing with such delicate and difficult subject matter left me hypnotized, and holding my hands out for a second dose.

Josh G (ru) wrote: Perhaps the most depressing war film I've ever seen. Brian DePalma directs this anti-war film about an atrocity in Vietnam with his usual flare. Both Sean Penn and Michael J. Fox give strong performances, one perverse and the other one humanistic, respectively. The movie has a very clear anti-war message that may offset people as too sentimental, however the film did terrify me and quickly won my sympathy for both the Vietnamese girl and Michael J. Fox's character. Casualties of War may not be a Apocalypse Now, but this is a very overlooked Vietnam War picture that deserves a wider audience.
