Marlie N (de) wrote: Rating - C Not bad, actually. I like the approach of a kick-ass church group that, while absent, were pretty darn cool, thanks very much. While ther filming was off and the acting wasn't really grade-A, the actors grew on you throughout the movie. And that girl was kind of cute - especially when she was acting tossed. All in all, a decent movie to kick back to, as long as you arn't expecting top of the line special effects. The only thing that made it C instead of B? The ending. Hey, it's cool, make an entrance to a sequal, fine. But no need to make it so desperate, cheap, and obvious. If I wanted that, I'd head to the bar.

J Brigham H (nl) wrote: It's obviously well made, but I think it's far more likely to get love from long-term single women (bonus if you have a sexual relationship with your diet and/or hate your mother) than from any other demographic. If you're an ordinary guy without an appreciation for film aesthetics who gets dragged into it though, there should be some pleasure in the fact that this is one of the all-too-few films in which a character literally farts to death.

Rameshwar I (de) wrote: I have not seen the original, so there is no question of comparison. But this movie has taken me by pleasant surprise for it's powerful performances and breakneck speed for a western. Crowe looks very charismatic as required, would have been a masterpiece in my list had there been more mind games between the main protagonists.

Daryl K (kr) wrote: Time travel (and a few leaps in logic) are what's required to set up this role-reversal 'Apes' sequel. But it's worth it, as 'Escape' remains my personal favorite of the follow-ups. Here, the ape characters played by Kim Hunter and Roddy McDowall are brought to modern day 1970s Earth, and after first enjoying a bout of celebrity, must face many of the same hatreds and prejudices that Charlton Heston did in the original. The frivolity of earlier scenes is contrasted by one of the darkest and most grim endings of the series, and I think this is one of the reasons 'Escape' works as well as it does for me.
