Peter J (kr) wrote: A sweet romantic comedy with a fresh young cast (female lead Genelia D'Souza stands out), a strong soundtrack by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman, and a funny cameo by the always great Naseeruddin Shah as talking painting. The Jai-rescues-Meghna-from-two-disco-brutes scene at the end of the first hour is one of the most hilarious comedy bits I've seen. All in all, a cute approach to the tired old "best friends love each other but don't know" plot!

Renate v (ca) wrote: Darryl Hannah's best work so far in my opinion. This film primes to the core...it definately provides material for discussion. It steps on many a toe..It reminds of "The mission" with Jeremy Irons & Robert de Niro, where Christians blindly blunder into cultures they do not understand to impose their morals urgently on a non-suspecting people that live in harmony with nature. Brilliant acting by Aidan Quinn. Highly recommendable, although emotionally very draining.

Tim M (fr) wrote: 'Cinema Paradiso' is a thoroughly engaging film about possibilities, missed opportunities, and the love of a man for the child he never had. If that's not enough for you to watch then view it for the performance of Philippe Noiret. Noiret plays the de facto father of Salvatore a young boy who lost his dad in the war. Their relationship is the heart of a film that has one of the best scores ever penned. It's a classic. If you're going to watch a foreign language film, this is the one. Final Score: 9.8 of 10
Eric H (de) wrote: Subway is a very original movie. It combines an experimental feel, along with a very entertaining result. The actors give a very good performance. The musical score is excellent, and fits the movie perfectly. The story is simple, yet interesting. It is an excuse to present the characters, which are the most important thing in this movie. But what is good about this movie is that it is an example of Besson's style, a mix of the French style of moviemaking and the American style. This movie feels American, but for an American viewer it probably feels very French... Strange, but very good. This movie is not Besson's best, but it is excellent.
