When the factory packs up overnight she and her former coworkers formulate a plan to spend the small amount of compensation money in a somewhat less than legal way - they want to hire a hit-man to finish off the boss.Set in a typical dark and dreary high-unemployment village this beginning of a story is a solid base for a very twisted comedy. It sets off at a good speed and keeps rolling forward and when it finally ends it does so with a fitting ending. Granted, some bits are high on clichs, but it gets away with that because some other bits are so good they count as counterweights for that. The choice of actors is great - especially the female lead character. She plays her character so well it almost comes across as a natural second skin. The male lead is great too and their combination works wonders, they just fit really well.9 out of 10 oh-no-you-did-not-do-that moments
(de) wrote: Nothing original. Plot is predictable from the first minute to the last one. Dialogs are very poor and there is no suspense whatsoever. Plus, it contains very disturbing and nasty scenes where the killer is cutting off parts of the victims' bodies.
(ru) wrote: This is what happen in real life. We see this every day. And the nice thing is that they tried to show it in a nateural and real way, with no glossy. I really enjoyed this movie.
(ag) wrote: This film is beautiful. The story is powerful; it's not your typical "relax-with-friends-on-a-Saturday-night" type of film.
(it) wrote: Very nice movie, it makes you think a lot about time and past. Not an easy film, but with excellent music
(au) wrote: Saw this some time ago and it was almost forgettable.

(jp) wrote: Experiment: Put two great actors in a movie where absolutely nothing happens and see if they can make it interesting. Oddly enough, Streep and DeNiro sort of manage to pull it off, although you could easily fall asleep after the first five minutes and wake up for the last five without missing anything.
(us) wrote: En DVD.

(kr) wrote: On paper, this film should not succeed. It concerns a strong willed and passionate woman who's life is filled with purile distractions, who is dying of an incurable illness, and the doctor who falls in love with her. The film's glory involves not only a superb performance by Bette Davis, and an incredible death scene, but also the persons of her doctor and her best friend are so skillfully played that the authenticity of the piece is undeniable. Even Bogart appears in a supporting role as the horsehand to good effect. The film, released in 1939, faced stiff awards competition, in what was arguably the greatest year for film. While nominated for several awards, the film never achieved any, beaten out by Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz most notably.
(it) wrote: Very good movie with good action and fighting.
(ag) wrote: After waiting as long as we fans had to, this film was nothing but a bitter disappointment.
(ag) wrote: Obviously low-budget, the abysmal acting was expected, as were the deficient make up and other technical aspects. What I didn't expect, though was the absolute lack of logic. Everyone knows the rules, they say them out-loud, yet they don't act accordingly. If there's action on one room, and they move to another, the former is forgotten, as in "paused" until they decide to re-visit it. Character actions make no sense at all.I enjoy a good bad movie every once in a while, but this can't be called a movie.
