Angie L (br) wrote: A powerful movie that deserves so much more attention than it is getting in the media and theaters. It provides so much history behind the discovery of the BRCA mutation and also the journey of Annie Parker. There was a physician panel after the movie where we could ask questions about hereditary cancers. It was an amazing evening.

It is very much an ambiguous and paradoxical film: is this improvisational honesty? Is it alternate reality? The split screen feels like it is a natural element and yet remains a fascinating device throughout. Recommended to fans of errant romance.

To me a lot of respected critics may be afraid to align themselves with this film simply because of the nature of it. This was an exceptionally done film with probably the best acting that I have seen in a couple of years. If you take the movie Hard Candy and add some depth and restraint to it then you get something like this. This is certainly not a pleasant or happy film but the effort that went into cannot be questioned.

Richard D (mx) wrote: Seems I'm doomed to perpetually waver on this film. The last time I watched it, I was convinced that it was far better than I had previously thought it to be. Watching it again ... I'm not so sure. I think it's an undeniably good film, but it feels about half an hour too long. The half hour leading up to the climax is particularly painfully slow. I think the problem is that I never really buy the relationship between Mathilda and Leon in anything deeper than a superficial action film manner, so when the film tries to delve into that relationship for real emotional payoff, it loses me. Great action flick ... check. Great villain ... check (I have firmly decided that Gary Oldman's amazingly outsized performance is great) The rest ... no not so much.
