Will E (de) wrote: Terrific late-period John Huston fight flick, gritty and raw, set in the boxing rings and barrooms of a broken-down CA town. Naturalistic performances from Stacey Keach, Jeff Bridges, and Susan Tyrrell. Fortunately it's on Netflix instant view so check it out!

Vasco M (us) wrote: While Brainiac is done some justice in this movie, it is so full of illogical and fallacious stunts and events that it bogs the film down to a joke.

James C (ag) wrote: Pretty good flick although somewhat predictable. Stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and tells a story of Radcliffe's character who grows up in love with a childhood sweetheart only to one day be facing accusations of murdering her. During the turmoil and the ongoing investigation Radcliffe begins to believe that maybe he did kill her and internalizes to a point where he starts to grow devil horns. But as the horns grow he also develops the ability to see what people have seen and even influence people to do bad things. I was a little disappointed in the ending but overall this was very interesting and shows some really good acting by Radcliffe.9/10

Jeff B (jp) wrote: I wasn't sure if I was going to give this four or five stars. I thought about it and realized that I thoroughly enjoyed this film from start to finish. I don't understand why it got such average marks here at the Tomatoe.Wolf and Rourke do a great job as grizzled yet sensible CIA vet and coming of age, awkward, quirky smart kid who is able to win over the nerds and jocks alike. The story builds nicely is well paced and develops naturally, nothing forced.Even Sarah Silverman does a nice job as the awkward single mom. There's noting too heavy handed here. The story is kept light, relatively speaking, without going down the road of getting too preachy or maudlin. There's also a lot of good laughs, laughs that come from the characters and the story line, not sigh gags or forced jokes like so many of those boring, alleged comedies. Ashby is quirky, fun, but doesn't take itself too seriously. And as per usual, Rourke lights up the screen with his talent and presence. For me, it was a win, win , win. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

RJohn X (es) wrote: this started life as a porn script. But then veteran TV personality and cheapo American knock off of Udo Kier, Robert Quarry, got involved and desexed the whole thing. In place of the jiggling willies, we are treated to a gruesome meal of a kitten, a lot of ponderous dialogue, and a doctor who does not even wait to finish an exam to light up a cigarette. Ah, the filthy 70s. Oh there is still plenty of sex. Especially in a van. Which I am told was a big thing back then. The truly creepy stuff in here that makes the movie memorable and effective? The high screeching soundtrack when Yorga attacks. The dead eyes of Donna and the made up overbite of Brudah. All amazing. Plus Michael Murphy (Cloak and Dagger, X Men Return, and a Batman movie)!
