A wide-ranging, energetic period piece tracing the rise of the Protestant Henry of Navarre as he goes from battlefield warrior to France's beloved King Henri IV. Director Jo Baier's epic is a classically entertaining adventure, albeit one with more than a little bloodshed and frequent bawdy sexual interludes. In late 16th-century France, Catholics and Protestant Huguenots were at war. Seemingly seeking peace, the French dowager queen, Catherine de Medici summons Henry to her court to have him marry her daughter, uniting the two warring factions. However, the Catholics slaughter the Protestant wedding guests in what became known as the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre and Henry-now married-must use all his guile to both stay alive and maneuver for the throne. Kyle T (br) wrote: When I read a review about this film that states "misses its mark, emphasising the struggles of a wandering Westerner, as seen by his filmmaker best-friend, rather than giving a fuller understanding of the painfully tragic lives of those he wants to help." I can't help but wonder if the viewer went into the right theater. This film was outstanding - start to finish - and provides deep, vivid insight into BOTH the kids and Rocky's lives.

Borhan K (ca) wrote: In our Nature a dramatic tale about a son and father relationship that the son had not got over the ending of his father and mothers marriage breakup. In most cases books that turn into movies are ok but this should have stayed a book if it was a book. Its a straight forward dram tale and does not have anything special no action etc..This movie is not rated but i would say its for the adults only. Its plane and flat lines all through the movie.

Tim's mom cannot stand to have someone take Tim away from her family. Tim is insecure about dealing with girls - even Jill doesn't know what to do with someone as shy as Tim. I enjoyed the actors - especially the mom who is a comedienne who borders on being funny. The part of Mark was a little confusing as there are times he seems quite delayed and others when there is little wrong with him.By the way, this movie was called Clubland in Australia, but Introducing the Dwights in North America.

Mark P (au) wrote: I didn't write this review; however It is very well written: The battle scenes are amazing in their scope and vehemence. But in the breaks between fighting, the movie reminds us that the costs of war can exceed the loss of life and limb.

It is a beautiful landscape, a beautiful photography but an unbalance sequency and screenplay. Kind of absurd by moments and too metaphoric. Basically it presents a non time movie where the mother force the daughter to live in the middle of the nothing, in a present and future time that doesnt have end, a circle that seems its not going to finish, where everything runs and disapear like sand...The story is repeated one more time, but now the mother try to broken that story getting the oportunity to take her daughter out (when i guess this is about thirty and something years old) of the sandy place...And the story finished when there is a reconciliations between the mother and daughter, just when this comes back after 30 years to visit her mother and brought her a radio and information of what was happening outside the sand house.

Wes S (us) wrote: Dated effects, unlikable characters, and rather hard to follow. The jokes are gross, the violence is bland, and there isn't enough solid material. While are there some nice effects moments and some decent parts of the premise, Spawn is rather uneven and hard to enjoy.

Barney o (ag) wrote: WHAT I LIKED: The Mission: Impossible formula is born, and it's one that largely works. Get a super, over-complicated plot, then get Ethan and his team to crack the mission before the ticking clock stops. It's a pretty simple idea each time around, but it is a fun formula to watch thanks to some awesome action, crazy stunts, tense moments, and the occasional emotional beat.WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: This formula has it's cons too. Prinipally, the plot is always extremely over-complicated, and in this one that's an issue to the point where it all feels like a badly connected group of albeit great scenes.VERDICT: 'Mission: Impossible' begins... and it's pretty enjoyable. Sadly, this is nothing more than that.

Flamingo Road is a really great story with good performances by everyone involved. Joan with a gun and a reason to get even is always a better Joan. This melodrama will keep you entertained and it's not without the lavish costumes and leg shots that is all Joan.
