John D (it) wrote: The characterization of Katherine Heigl's character drove me crazy. Yes, I get that she was a character that couldn't say no. She was also someone that couldn't tell the truth when it mattered and yet faults her writer friend for "lying". The women characters were hard to deal with and the male characters were really predictable. Although it was frustrating at times you have to watch all the way through to get some sort of satisfaction.
Cody L (gb) wrote: Predictable and cliche, but the film has a lot of heart, and the cast does a terrific job.
George W (jp) wrote: Normally this would have just gotten a 4. The actors all did well in their various roles, but nothing REALLY stood out as jaw droppingly amazing, and it was four separate stories, so there was a lack of continuity and flow between them. But, Cosby and Pryor have a hilarious fight scene. I won't spoil any plot points, but let me just say that it made the movie.
Liam S (jp) wrote: American History X is an American crime dram film, about a former neo-nazi skinhead, who tries to prevent his brother from going down the same wrong path he did. It's lead by an intense and electrifying performance by Edward Norton, competent direction, and a competent screenplay. It's has issues but they're not so major that they hold back the film. The direction is good, but it's nothing specIal, and the film is neither great nor bad to look at. The screenplay is good, and it has it's moments. It has great dialogue, and four standout scenes, but the rest of it falls short and/or flat, and some character development for Norton's character was missing. There were some pacing problems, and there were some narration scenes. Edward Norton's narration was good, but the narration by Edward Furlong (His younger brother) felt boring. An aspect I liked a lot was the black and white used during flashback sequences, and the color used in present day scenes. I think it emphasized well Norton's change and development as a character. Overall this film is good, and while it does have issues, I think it's worth watching and its worth your time.
Michelle E (jp) wrote: I thought the film was pretty well done, however the scary factor was not up to par with the Original Exorcist. But perhaps it was meant to be as such. As the Exorcist series progress the demon Pazuzu gains more abilities and experience, even if being defeated three times. Thoughtful and if anything else a very interesting light on the character Father Merrin. Thought provoking and very well done by the actors.
Henry M (ru) wrote: Classic stoner movie. Seth Rogan and James Franco never seem to disappoint when they work together and this is no exception. Laugh out loud funny, the only real complaints I have come with the pace of the plot only because the movie goes from stagnant to action very rapidly.

James m (ca) wrote: A new take on the Civil war era that has been somewhat overlooked in film. I think sheds new light on the burden women had to bear.I think though there didn't seem to be enough that happen. To me it felt more like a TV pilot for a show . I was just really becoming attached to the leads when the movie ended. But I would recommend it all the same.
