Nate A (ca) wrote: Destined to be a cult classic (if it isn't already), the movie pays homage to the old westerns while injecting a good bit of melodrama that seems to be so prevalent in a lot of Asian cinema.Visually, it's a pretty unique movie. However, it's far too slow and predictable. I found myself bored about halfway through and it was a bit of a struggle to finish it. For a much better Asian western, check out "The Good, the Bad, and the Weird".

That Egoyan was able to shoot a resonant film in Armenia for ~$100,000 is a miracle by almost any standards. The structure (especially if you've read next to nothing about the film) is initially confusing, but later, you realize it couldn't have worked any other way. Although I think Ceylon's "Climates" is a superior film, "Calendar" looms heavily. While they don't share the same rigid structure, they explore almost identical themes. Next time it'll be a double feature.
James H (de) wrote: Well, it?s no worse than the original, of course that?s not saying much. The acting in this one, as in the first is poor, although Lisa Pelikan is good, and Milla Jovovich is at least halfway decent. Brian Krause however is awful, as is most everyone else. It's more of a remake really than a sequel, although it does tie into the original story. There is no denying the location filming in Fiji is breathtaking, and the cinematography is quite good. Other than that, it doesn't have much to offer.

Keenan S (us) wrote: This was apparently one of Audrey Hepburn's least favorite roles, and while the film certainly isn't her best, I still had a great time watching this goofy, wildly aloof romance film. Despite being more fluff than substance, it has a fun charm to it, and is also pretty funny most of the time. I think this is one of Hepburn's most underrated films.
