Dan M (br) wrote: Not as cheesy as the other fighting video game movies, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, but saying this is the better of those doesn't say a whole lot. The plot was very dumb but the fighting scenes made up for some of it, the actress who played Christie Monteiro certainly makes up for the rest, 'cuz damn..

Dan B (gb) wrote: Beautiful, low key road movie that (amongst other things) perfectly captures the European's fascination with America and sense of melancholy upon leaving it. (Though I don't share the hero's disdain for US TV.) Impossible to imagine this film being made nowadays - the central relationship would never be viewed as innocently as it is here. The two leads are superb as is the black and white photography and overall I enjoyed it so much I almost wanted to go back and forgive Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire for nearly boring me to death. Quite wonderful.
