It is engaging, it is true to life, on two or three occasions you lose the connections between the scenes, but many times, especially towards the end, you find yourself having a tear or two in your eyes and this simply because it so often mirrors what life can be like.I like it and recommend it to anyone open minded beyond the traditional American film.

Michael C (ru) wrote: Unfunny & quite ugly. Hal is a super shallow guy who basically gets hypnotized to see people's inner beauty. He goes from picking on & laughing at women he finds repulsive to being attracted to them & viewing them as sexy and beautiful. The audience sees Paltrow one second as she is in real life (through the eyes of 'new' Hall), the next second as the overweight person she plays in the movie. It is, I guess, a message that we shouldn't judge people, but in trying to delivering that message, it actually feels like it's doing the opposite. It spares no length to make her excess weight the butt of every joke and both main male leads come off as cheesy hucksters. There is nobody or no thing worth rooting for here.

Carlo A (mx) wrote: The film is no doubt ahead of its time and its art. But movies are story telling for me, I don't like the drag. It's like the best 3 course meal but in between each course is an hour long wait.

Michael L (gb) wrote: admittedly, there really isnt much diference between any of the thin man movies. if youve seen one, youve pretty much seen the formula. witty banter, crazy murder premise, great "what the crap" endings. truly some of the greatest of all time. myrna loy=HOT. also, watch for an appearance by a young donna reed
