If this movie was strictly a Twilight Zone-esque psychological thriller void of the ridiculous and over-the-top extra terrestrial aspect, no doubt The Forgotten would have skyrocketed in quality. The Forgotten had solid performances, and a promising premise, but unfortunately a ludicrous second half with some annoyingly unanswered plot strands.

Unfortunately, it's based on real events. Quite sadly, Hillbillyland is my own hometown. It was pretty neat though, to watch a film and be able to say Hey, that's X or Look, there's Y. People who live in real places get to do that all the time, but those of us in Bumblefuck don't. One of the main characters is a guy I've known my whole life, so that was pretty cool too. For what it is, I thought it was decent. It was a little bit messy, but the acting was good throughout and the technical stuff was OK. Pretty solid effort for a first-time feature-length filmmaker, dealing with a tragic event from his past.

You may feel like vomiting several times during the film, but if you persevere and fight the urge to close your eyes or hit eject then you're likely to see one of the most strangely gorgeous pieces of cinema of all time. It's an experience you'll never be able to forget whether you want to or not.
