I must admit that it's hard to distance myself from the fact that Hong Kong will always be a special place to me since it is the first place I visited outside of America. But even without all of that, I enjoyed the two main characters' journey and am glad I checked this one out.

The film has a really wise moral of learning to get on with life no matter hard it is and puts it into the most charmingly funny way possible, Leslie Mann is there to add the romance side of it. Charming, clever and I love Reynolds role like always and this film is a real treat.

Giffy G (ru) wrote: I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS MOVIE. Seldom does a movie make its audience feel two emotions simultaneously, and a good number struggle to make their audiences feel emotions. There were times when I was scared and laughing at the same time. There were times where I was crying, yet relieved. There were times when I was disturbed and charmed. The acting was witty and dry. The camera work was inventive. The characters were larger than life. The mythology was rich. This was an amazing movie.

Brandon T (mx) wrote: A bit too ambitious, American Pop was one of those films that had some great moments, but as a whole doesn't feel like it works.I will say that this was the first film I've seen in its entirety by Ralph Bakshi. I've seen bits of Fritz the Cat and some of the other films he's done, and after seeing this, I must say, he was a fantastic animator that deserves all of the acclaim he's received.I do feel that this film gets something specific right. The dichotomy between the events of the world and how we just ignore them while we have fun/listen to music.

Sessue Hayakawa is also impressive as Col. Saga.
