Bobby L (it) wrote: Amazing acting, intriguing mystery that jumps chronlogy (in a fitting way, not 'hey we are cool, so do this' kind of way). It's sort of a sexual-thriller/ whodunit/ cop procedural. The movie gets a tad bogged in the middle, seeming to be a little to long, despite it's scant 95 minutes. Thora Birch is spectular as the lead, and she has a sexiness and fierceness, and the movie does keep the tension up.

Baurushan J (gb) wrote: Known as The Flyboys in USA but Sky Kids in UK, the story is about two pre-teen boys named Jason who is an unpopular student and Kyle who is a new kid who both become pals and then runaway pilots after stealing a mob's plane. The mob played by Tom Sizemore traps them both using their plane and his brother played by Stephen Baldwin saves the two from a parachute after the plane's fuel runs low. This isn't good. It's better than good. It's an action-packed drama that follows the story of two children that have a close bonding and a movie proving that you don't need explosions and chase sequences to make an action movie intense. Since I'm in the UK I call this movie Sky Kids and this movie gets a 8.6/10.

Jonathan B (gb) wrote: Ken Loach has been an inspirational film maker for me for as long as I can remember and its a suprise that I've only really got around to watching this properly (I have vague memories of watching this one drunken eve in the nineties and falling asleep). Its a fantastic companion piece to Loach's more recent 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley' with similar themes being covered. It is also a fantastic introduction to the many complex and confusing political components of the conflict to any viewer not too familiar with the Spanish Civil War. Fantastic performances and Ken Loaches long lens doco style is in full effect. Brilliant.

Alyssa C (fr) wrote: I hate to be the odd one out here, but I didn't really like this movie. The story is powerful and it's a very difficult subject to portray, which they did quite well. However, the kid who plays Lucien is horrible, in my opinion: he shows absolutely no expression, and though that may have been intentional, his blandness made him seem entirely unlikeable.

Jeremy B (au) wrote: Disappointing is the word I would use to describe my reaction to this film. Perhaps it was because I'd been wanting to see it for some time and had high expectations. The direction of this film was quite terrible. The pacing was way too slow and in many scenes I felt the camera wasn't on the actor's face when it should have been in order to capture emotional moments. Moreover, the action sequences were really dull. The only bright spot was Raquel Welch. She was lovely, as usual, but even in the infamous interracial love scene with Jim Brown there were moments when the camera went in and out of focus -- and I'm sure it wasn't for "artistic" reasons.Even the otherwise charismatic Burt Reynolds was really under utilized here, which is indicative of the film overall.

Paul D (de) wrote: The plot is essentially a classic western narrative, but it is given a great new and interesting twist set after the Spanish Civil War which has long since ended. There's controlled performances all around, and all the characters have great depth which the audience must engage with and search out themselves. It's just a shame the two leads never get a great scene of dialogue together, while the ending feels like there is something missing.

Erno K (mx) wrote: Just when I thought I had watched my worst movie of the year, I have to go and see this piece of shit. What a goddamn disaster. I only watched it because I used to be a fan of Wesley Snipes anyway, but jesus I had no idea what horrors I would encounter. Avoid like the literal plague that has AIDS attached to it.
